THR Hobby Stocks & SAS Road Runners Merge

Thunderhill Raceway promoter Mary Ann Naumann announced this past Friday that the THR Management Team had made a decision to merge the former SAS Road Runner class with the established Hobby Stock division as of May 26th.

The new division will be called the THR Thunder Stocks and track officials have already combined the points earned from previous races including the May 12th event, which are posted later in this release. “We think this will be a great deal for both classes”, said Mary Ann Naumann. “A number of drivers saw the wisdom of blending the classes and requested we do so. All cars will run on the track designated Hobby Stock tire and we’ll keep a close eye on the races for the rest of the season. We will make tech rule adjustments if necessary to keep the competition fair. Now that we’re an ASA Member Track we think most drivers will enjoy the prestige of racing in a larger field and we know the fans are going to love to see 20-24 cars starting at each event.”

In other THR news, two dates have been added to the THR Texas Trucks schedule including July 14th and September 15th. In addition, it was announced that the Texas Trucks and the Pro Modifieds could drop one of their races in order to determine their best point average for the on-going point’s battle for the 2007 season championship.

Racing resumes this Saturday May 26th. Fans can kick off their Memorial Day Weekend with a full schedule of stock car action including the Pro Modifieds, Texas Pro Sedans, A-Line Super Stocks, the Thunder Stocks, Grand Stocks, Lone Star Legacys, and NASKARTS. As an added attraction, the Junior Racers of America (JRA Kids Club) will host Bike Races for kids of all ages.

The garage/pit area opens at NOON, unless participants have a two day wristband, which allows entrance from Friday at 2:00 p.m. Saturday Grandstands open at 4:00 p.m. with qualifying and qualifying heats starting at 5 p.m. The Opening Ceremony at 7 p.m. Adult General Admission is still $15, children 6-12-$5, and kids under 6 are free. THR is located on IH-35 at the Yarrington Road exit #210 in Kyle, Texas. For more information visit www.thunderhillraceway.com
