Motors were tuned, cars tweaked, tires aired, and mothers massaged as The Salons of Elm Square presented a special Mother's Day racing program. With the tight close racing on the track, driver's mothers could relax with free chair massages presented by The Salons of Elm Square.

Colton Claims Controversial Cottman Checkers

Cottman Transmissions Teen Mini Stocks

Six Cottman Transmissions Teen Mini Stocks took to the track for their ten lap feature race. On the hit of the green flag, the youngsters went four wide in the battle for the lead. Travis Zwiefelhofer got that lead and started to pull away from the rest of the field. Colton Monroe and Joseph Charnock were waging a side by side battle behind Zwiefelhofer for second. On lap seven, the race was slowed when Brittney Rasmussen and Brandon Colburn had a crack up on the back straight. Rasmussen's night would be over with heavy front end damage on her car.

That yellow flag was the last thing Zwiefelhofer wanted to see, as it erased his huge lead, and put Monroe and Charnock right on his tail. Those three sliced and diced for the next two laps, racing hard for the lead. As they crossed under the white flag, Monroe dove under Zwiefelhofer, and took the lead in turn one. Zwiefelhofer tried to return the favor in turn four, as the checkered flag was waving from the flag stand, but pushed it too hard and contact was made between Monroe and Zwiefelhofer. Monroe almost hit the wall in turn four as Zwiefelhofer crossed the line first. But Zwiefelhofer wasn't allowed to pull his car onto victory circle, as the officials determined that the pass was not a clean one, and scored Zwiefelhofer last as a result. Colton Monroe drove his car onto victory circle and received the winners trophy.

Joseph Charnock and Colton Monroe are now tied for the points lead.

Fuller Finally Finishes First

Cleo Bay Honda Street Stocks

Twenty-three Cleo Bay Honda Street Stocks lined up for their twenty lap feature race. Gene Burnett lead the first lap, on the drop of the green flag. Green wouldn't last long however, as Tim Fasano rolled to a stop under the flag stand. Burnett was followed by Dean Silva, Brian Fuller, Dennis Simmons, and Danny “Get'r” Dunn. On the restart, B. Fuller got around Silva for second. A lap later, and B. Fuller would get the lead with a pass of Burnett in turn four. On lap three, a returning track champion, competing for the first time in a couple of years, Floyd Pruitt, had hauled himself from his twelfth starting spot, to fourth. He didn't stay there long, as he took third from Silva a lap later. But Pruitt's good run came to an end, as he got bottled behind a slower car and hit the big tire in turn two, and falling back through the field as a result.

On lap six, the top five were B. Fuller, Burnett, Simmons, Silva, and Robert Simmerman. The top five were running hard, and slicing their way through lapped traffic. On lap ten, Simmerman got around Siva for fourth. On lap eleven Simmons got under Burnett on the back straight and the two raced door handle to door handle to the front straight, where Simmons took over second. Lap thirteen saw Burnett fall back another spot to fourth, as Simmerman took a spot from him. Former Budweiser Racing Texas Twister driver, Chris Florio hauled himself up to fourth.

On lap sixteen Florio was challenging Simmerman for third by diving under the two time track champion in turn four. They raced side by side all the way around the track, until turn four on lap fourteen. There the two touched. Florio did a flying three-sixty, but lost many positions. As the battle was waging behind him, B. Fuller crossed the finish line a full straight ahead of Simmons.

Brian Fuller climbed out of his street stock in victory lane for the first time ever eighteen years of trying. He had won races in the now defunct Texas Thunder class, and also in the new Budweiser Racing Texas Twisters, but never in a Cleo Bay Honda Street Stock.

Trevor Takes The Track's Tall Trophy

Dodge Country I. M. C. A. Modifieds

Eighteen alcohol burning, fire breathing, Dodge Country I. M. C. A. Modifieds were lead to green for their twenty lap feature race by Glenn Derks II. Derks got the early jump and was followed by Wayne Walker, Brad Jordan, Keith White, and Trevor Egbert. On lap one, turn two, Walker and Jordan got together, both would continue, with Walker held on to second, but only for another lap, as he would start falling back through the field. The second lap also saw P. J. Egbert's car have problems and he pulled off the track into the infield. On lap three, White got around Jordan for second. T. Egbert and Kenny Stone followed White by Jordan, for third and fourth.

On lap five, White would get around Derks for the lead. On lap eight, T. Egbert got under Derks in turn one and they raced wheel to wheel around the track until White finally got the runner up spot in turn one on lap nine. On the same lap, Pat McGuire got around Jordan for fifth. On lap ten, Stone got around Derks for third. Lap thirteen, turn four saw Derks loose another spot, as McGuire got around him in turn four for fourth.

With five to go, caution came out on the speedway, as Jordan spun to a stop in turn three. That erased the lead the White had built up. The top five, now bunched up, for the restart were White, T. Egbert, Stone, McGuire, and Derks. As the green flew, Jordan got around Derks for for fifth. Up front, as they leaders raced through turn four, White was under attack from T. Egbert. They both were racing to the limit, but T. Egbert used the low line and took over the lead. White was caught on the high side, and McGuire and Stone were able to race through the door opened by T. Egbert to push White back to fourth.

White didn't stay in fourth long, as on lap seventeen, he got back by Stone to regain third. But White wouldn't hold that spot long, and gave another up, as he bobbled in turn one on lap eighteen and lost spots to both Stone and Jordan. As the white flag singled one lap to go, Stone and McGuire were wheel to wheel in turn one. They stayed that way all around to turn four, where Stone took the runner up spot from McGuire by ½ car length at the line. T. Egbert was only one car length ahead of the battle for second as he got to the line first. He started sixth on the grid on route to his first win on the year.

Jones Wins, Wimps Out On Back Flip

Corbin & Associates, Atty's I. M. C. A. Stock Cars

Eleven Corbin & Associates, Atty's I. M. C. A. Stock Cars took to the track for their fifteen lap feature race. At the drop of the green, the field went three wide for the lead down the front straight. Pole sitter Daniel Shipler would retain the top spot and was followed by Jason Bogard, Eric Jones, Benji Kirkpatrick, and Jessie James Cox Jr. Shipler's time up front came to an end in turn one, on the first full circuit of the race, as he spun his ride. Bogard, and Cox Jr were caught up in the Shipler situation, but all continued with no need for a yellow, though from deep in the pack. As the pack was scattering to miss Shipler and Bogard, Jones took the lead, followed by Kirkpatrick, Tony Hamil, Jeremy O'Brien, and Robin Rasmussen.

On lap three, both Rasmussen, and Shad Stevens got around O'Brien for fourth and fifth. Lap five saw Stevens get around Rasmussen for fourth. But three laps later, Steven's car pulled up lame coming out of turn four, and he would be out of the race. Rasmussen got fourth back, and Bogard was recoving nicely from his earlier problems to be in fifth. Bogard would get one more spot, eventually getting by Rasmussen on lap twelve. The last three laps saw Jones continue to pull away from second, and he won the race by a full straight ahead of Kirkpatrick. Jones started fourth. He did not climb the fence, nor did he do a back flip.

Second Fuller Succeeds, Scores Same Spoils

Budweiser Racing Texas Twister Feature One

Ten cars took to the track for fifteen laps, in the first of two feature races for the Budweiser Racing Texas Twisters. Billy McCloud took the early lead, followed by Charlie Laidley, Carl Fitzgerlad, Joe Fuller, and J. D. Hardcastle. On lap three, Fitzgerald got around Laidley for second. A lap later and Fitzgerald got under McCloud as they raced down the back straight to take the lead going into turn three. On lap five, Fuller got around McCloud for second.

As the race progressed, the top six were in a wad, as they tried to race through lapped traffic. On lap six, Randy Doyle had gotten to third, but wasn't satisfied with that and challenged Fuller for second on the back straight. They raced hard side by side to the front straight where Fuller was able to hold off Doyle's charge. T. J. Yagalla was moving up through the field and was in fifth. On lap eight, after holding Doyle at bay, Fuller ducked under Fitzgerald going down the back straight and finally got the lead on the front straight. Doyle and T. J. Yagalla both got around Fitzgerald to take over second and third on lap ten. The last five laps saw the field stay static, though there was hard racing back in the pack. Fuller won the race by a half straight from his second starting position.

Wilkinson Wins Wild One, Looses War

Budweiser Racing Texas Twister Feature Two

Ten more of the cars that race, not race cars lined up to do fifteen laps of battle in the second Budweiser Racing Texas Twister Feature. The front row of “Nasty Nate” Cullifer and Chris Wilkinson banged doors in turn two on the green flag lap. They stayed side by side all the way around to the front straight, where Wilkinson took over the lead. Those two were followed by Larry Tuerck, Michael Hilliard, and Tom Yagalla. Wilkinson's lead didn't last long, as Cullifer took the top spot in turn two on lap two. On lap three, Yagalla dove under both Hilliard, and Tuerck in turn to make it a three wide battle for third. Yagalla would take third in turn two, with Hilliard pushing Tuerck back to forth. On lap four Hilliard wanted third back and he went door handle to door handle with Yagalla in turn one, with Yagalla getting the spot as they raced off of turn two.

On lap eight, Hilliard got under Wilkinson in turn one, but couldn't get the run he needed down the back straight and would fall back to third. Wilkinson got a great run, and not only held off Hilliard, but was able to get under Cullifer in turn three. Those two fought side by side for two complete laps, with Cullifer finally getting sole possession of first in turn two on lap ten. While that battle was going on, Hilliard pulled up lame and wouldn't be a factor the rest of the race.

On lap eleven, leader Cullifer bobbled in traffic in turn four, letting Wilkinson get a run under him. Wilkinson took the lead at the stripe. On lap twelve, current points leader, Keith Desmarais got under Cullifer in turn three and moved up to second. The top three were nose to tail for the final three laps. As the white flag waved, Cullifer tried the high side going down the front straight in a bid to regain second from Desmarais. But Desmarais' line in turn one was better, and he kept the runner up spot in turn two. With one corner to go, Desmarais dove under Wilkinson. The two raced hard to the waving checkered flag, with Wilkinson just nipping Desmarais at the line. Wilkinson's car was claimed after the race.

White, With Whetted Appetite, Wins

Danny's Transmissions I. M. C. A. Southern SportMods

Looking to avenge his run in the Dodge Country I. M. C. A. Modified race, White lined up ninth at the start of the Danny's Transmissions I. M. C. A. Southern SportMods. Fifteen cars were ready for fifteen laps. On the drop of the green flag, Ronnie Ellis Jr would take the lead, though it would be short lived, as he pulled into the pits, and out of the race without completing a lap. Shad Stevens inherited the lead, followed by Brandon Stewart, David Goode, and Sid “The Kid” Kiphen. On lap two Stewart would dive under Stevens in turn two in an effort to take the top spot. Those two raced wheel to wheel back to turn two, where Stewart took over the lead. While that was going on, the field was being shuffled , so fast, this reporter couldn't write down all the action.

White wasn't wasting anytime getting to the front, as he was in second on lap three. On the back straight, White got under Stewart, and took over the top spot. On lap five, the top five were, White, Stewart, Stevens, Kiphen, and Goode. On lap six, Calvin Schoenfeld got around Goode in turn four to get into the top five. On lap ten, Stevens got under Stewart and they raced side by side to turn four but Stevens couldn't get the pass done. The battle for second let White increase his lead, pulling out to about seven car lengths. On the white flag lap, Kiphen used the high line into turn two to take third from Stevens. White wasn't challenged as he crossed the stripe the final time, ahead of Stewart and Kiphen.
