THR Set for Big Saturday Show

Thunder Hill Raceway promoter Mary Ann Naumann released the May 11th-12th weekend schedule today for the paved 3/8’s mile ASA Member track’s second regular season event. The event line-up includes first time appearances by the Texas Trucks, Pro Modifieds, and Texas Dwarfs. The Roadrunners will make their second appearance of the year at their new home track along with the Lone Star Legacys, NASKARTS, Hobby Stocks, Grand Stocks, and A-Line Super Stocks.

The Texas Super Racing Series Late Models will be on hand for the TSRS “Darity 75”. The race will serve as a memorial event for long-time Long Horn Speedway racer Tommy Darity who passed away suddenly last week at the age of 51. Darity, a former fixture on the central Texas racing circuit was a daring driver and very well liked by his fellow racers, fans and track officials. 2007 TSRS feature winners Chris Schild, and Bobby Joe New are expected to compete along with a field of 17-20 other TSRS Stars and Cars from across Texas.

Race fans are invited to arrive at five on Saturday when all divisions will compete for starting positions in the feature events by time trials or qualifying heats. The Opening Ceremony is scheduled for 7 p.m. with 10 feature events for a total of 295 laps to follow. The JRA Kids Club booth will be open throughout the evening program and will also provide some fun activities during the intermission. Membership is only $12 for the season for which members get prizes, and opportunities for rides in some of the racecars.

On Friday May 11th the track will open at Noon to give drivers the opportunity to complete safety inspections for Saturdays events. The track will open for Test and Tuning from 2 p.m. until dark. The track will then open on Saturday morning at 10:a.m. with organized practice sessions being held from noon to 4:10 p.m.
