NickHolt
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE March 30, 2007 Contact: K-MAC Sports, 512.297.8725 Jake Kruger grabs top-5 in first race of season Consistently high finishes is what makes champions. Bastrop, TX (March 31, 2007) –Jake Kruger – a 13-year-old eighth-grader at Bastrop Middle School – started his year on the right foot by grabbing a top-5 finish in the Lonestar Legacys 30-lap feature race Sat. March 24 at San Antonio Speedway (SAS). Kruger Motorsports Racing (KMR) is hoping to run at Corpus Christi this weekend – weather pending. The youngster finished fifth at SAS – this despite some problems with the engine. “The engine was blowing some oil last weekend,” stated KMR co-owner Bill Kruger. “We’ve now got that problem fixed and we’ll be ready for the next race. Fortunately for our first race, Jake was able to drive the car despite the problem.” Last year’s Lonestar Legacys runnerup champion got off to a fast start, qualifying second for the race; Kruger would start the feature from the fourth spot (outside of Row 2) via the invert for the race. “We had a great run in practice, then in qualifying,” Kruger said. “The car handled very well on the track. We were very excited about our possibilities in the feature race.” Kruger, driving the #71 John Martin/Austin Vee-Dub Body Shop Chevrolet Monte Carlo – other team sponsors include Cool Carts of Texas, CapiTel Communications Inc. and Sikkens Paint - ran second for the first part of the race. Close to the halfway point, Kruger was forced to the inside and spun, bringing out a caution flag. Kruger was sent to the back and started at the rear of the field. The car was strong and the youngster made his way through the field and eventually got back up among the leaders. Kruger made his way to fourth but towards the end of the race slipped to fifth because of tire issues. KMR is looking to launch a web site soon. Kruger is represented by K-MAC Sports Productions of Austin; information about the company can be found at www.kmacsports.com. - 30 -
