The 2007 season opener for the TDCA was a cold one, but the TDCA did the best it could to warm up the night. San Angelo Speedway saw 10 of the fastest Dwarf Cars in the state battle to the finish.

The first Heat Race had #6, Jim Rogers starting on the pole, with #20, Roland Freeman on the outside. Freeman got a good start & took the lead on the first lap, with Rogers following closely. It was neck & neck until the last lap, when from out of nowhere comes the 8x "Hot Shoes Culpepper", flying by the #6 & #20 cars to take the win!! At the checkered flag it was 8x, 20, 6, 24, & 31. Great Race Guys!

The second Heat Race the lineup changed before the green flag ever dropped, with #64, Kalvin Chandler dropping out of the race with mechanical problems. #88, "Paw Paw" James Parks, was on the pole with #72, Arden Vikre on the outside front pole. #3, Rocky Bassham, & #27, Ricky Winks, were pushing them in the right direction for the first 2 or 3 laps. Then there were 2 races going on at the same time: #88, "Paw Paw" was giving #72, Vikre, a run for his money. "Paw Paw" leads the race right up to the last lap, when Vikre came flying passed him, not giving "Paw Paw a chance to catch up with him. What a RACE! #3, Bassham, had #27, Winks right in his butt all the way to the end of the race. At the checkered flag it was #72, 88, 3, & 27.

The 20 lap Feature was filled with excitement from start to finish. #72 Vikre, set across the front row from #88, "Paw Paw" on the start. Vikre took the lead and never looked back. Positions swapped all night with the #64, #27, & #6 changing positions for 4th thru the 7th place. Lap 15 saw the #27, Winks make contact with the wall, and ride on two wheels half the straight away. A late rare caution bunched the field back up with Vikre, on the pole, #88 in second & #3 third. It was a photo finish at the checkered flag for 2nd & 3rd place. The finishing order was #72, #3, #88, #64, #6, #8x, #24, #31, #27 & #20.

One of the spectators was overheard saying that they should change the name of the Dwarf Cars to The"Killer Bees".

We had a great race, with lots of excitement & fun! The TDCA once again put on a Great Show!!

The TDCA will debut at Rio Grande Speedway for the 2007 season on 03-24-07. SEE YOU THERE...
