NickHolt Posted February 16, 2007 Report Share Posted February 16, 2007 For Immediate Release - Feb. 15, 2007 From Bill Martin, IMCA Public Relations 319 472-2201, x225 Abilene opens new season with Feb. 23-25 Ice Breaker ABILENE, Texas (Feb. 15) – The new race season gets underway Friday through Sunday, Feb. 23-25 at Abilene Speedway with the traditional Ice Breaker special. IMCA sanctioned Modifieds, Jeff’s Performance Southern SportMods, Stock Cars and Hobby Stocks return to the track all three nights. Modifieds race for $500 to win and a minimum of $50 to start. SportMods and Stock Cars both race for $300 and a minimum of $50 to start, while the Hobbies square off for $250 to win and $25 paid to start. National, home region and Smiley’s state points will be awarded for each program. Pit gates open at 4 p.m. Friday. Hot laps are at 5:30 p.m., the draw closes at 6:30 p.m. and racing starts at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, pits open at 3 p.m., hot laps are at 5 p.m., the draw closes at 6 p.m. and racing is at 7 p.m. Sunday church services at the track are at 10 a.m. Pit gates open at 11 a.m., hot laps are at 11:30 a.m., the draw ends at 12:30 p.m. and racing is at 1 p.m. Gates open at 11 a.m. for a noon-4 p.m. practice session Sunday Feb. 18, and at 5 p.m. for a 6-10 p.m. practice on Thursday, Feb. 22.
