Casey Smith: Back to work for a busy 10 days

AUSTIN, TX – Casey Smith and the #99 Rapid Disposal/Gary Buchanan Homes Chevrolet Race Team got back to work just hours after Smith returned to his shop in Austin, Texas from an eighth-place finish in the United States Racing Association (USRA) Super Late Model (SLM) race at San Antonio Speedway because of a broken axle.

“We took about half-a-day off before starting to work on our car,” the 21-year-old Austin native stated. “We got back to work on Sunday afternoon. We ordered parts Monday morning and as soon as they arrive, we will get busy getting the rear-end fixed on my car. We plan on taking Gary’s car up to Thunder Hill Raceway (Kyle, TX) for a practice session this Friday.”

The team will work on both cars Monday and Tuesday before loading up to head east to Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Fla. on Wednesday.

Smith will participate in the Blizzard Series race on Friday, July 21 at Five Flags Speedway then gather up and run over on Saturday (July 22) to Mobile International Speedway for another race.

“We have a couple of different set ups we're going to work on for the races in Pensacola and Mobile,” Smith revealed. “We want to spend Monday and Tuesday working on those set ups.”

Smith then remarked, “And sometime in that busy 10-day schedule, we have to work our ‘real’ jobs, too!”

Smith will join Chuck Licata – host of The Motorsports Zone radio show on KVET-AM, Austin – on Saturday, July 29 for a live appearance in the KVET-AM studio. The show broadcasts from 10-11 a.m. Central Time.
