Norton Automotive sponsored the great racing at Central Texas' Premier Racing facility. The fireworks were provided by Ft. Hood, as they shoot off their fourth of July show four days late. The on the track fireworks were provided by the 105 cars in the pit area.

The first feature of the night was the youngest grid. Four Kwik Kar Oil & Lube Jr Mini Stocks lined up for ten laps of racing. Ryan Ellis got the early lead on the drop of the green flag, followed closely by Colten Monroe, Nathan Robbins, and Joseph Charnock. Going down the back straight, Monroe dove under Ellis and they races side by side to turn four. Ellis would hold off the seven time winner and lead the first lap. But Ellis' time in the spot light didn't last long, as Monroe would pull the same move on the back straight and powered into the lead.

Charnock would challenge Ellis briefly for second, but couldn't find the grip he needed to get around. The youngest driver from Phil's Paint & Body team would romp to his eighth win of the season.

The biggest field of the year pulled onto the track for the Kwik Kar Oil & Lube Street Stock feature race. Twenty-four drivers lined to do battle for twenty laps. On the start it was Scott Wilson leading the field. Jeremy Adkins was in second, followed by Joe Fuller, Danny “Get'er” Dunn and Cory Stepan. On lap one, Dunn would get by Adkins for second, with Stepan getting around as well to get into fourth. A lap later on lap two, Robert Simmerman drove around Adkins to make it into the top five.

Lap four would see the current point leader, Albert Wininger Jr pull off into the infield with car troubles. The first yellow of the race was brought out by Gene Burnett, who ended up on the backside of turn two. The restart top five were Wilson, Fuller, Dunn, Stepan and Simmerman. On the restart, Simmerman got round Stepan on the front straight for fourth place. On the back straight, Simmerman would get third from Fuller.

On lap nine, Stepan and Fuller were side by side on the back straight, with Fuller getting the fourth spot as they raced in turn four. As the huge field raced under the crossed flags, turn four saw four wide racing. Mike McLaughlin would get around Stepan, Simmerman and Fuller and take over third place. McLaughlin's time near the front was short lived as he spun on the back straight and lost many positions. Positions from third on back were scrambled as the pack scattered to mis McLaughlin.

On lap twelve, Wilson was still the leader, but he had Stepan, now in second, Simmerman and a new driver to the track, Mark Salango in third and fourth. On the same lap, Salango got into Simmerman in turn three. Simmerman would loop his ride and lose the fire, necessitating a yellow flag. Salango was sent to the rear on the restart for being a part of the caution.

With two of the top five being put to the back for the restart, the top five saw some new cars. Wilson continued in the lead, with Stepan, Michael Legore, Carl Boettcher, and Trevor Sparkman as the top five. On the restart, it was a three wide fight for third coming off of turn four. It was Ty Hawkey on the bottom, Boettcher in the middle, and Adkins high, wide, and handsome on the outside. By the time they entered turn one, it was former track champion Hawkey in fourth.

On the back straight on the thirteenth circuit, Stepan would get around Wilson to take over the top position. Two laps later and Boettcher spun in turn four, but he got going with out a yellow being needed. But Lee Chasse, Lisa Parent, and Dean Silva weren't so lucky, as they all ended up in a wad in turn three. It would take several wreckers to clean up the mess.

The restart order with six laps lap left were Stepan, Wilson, Legore, Cody Cooper, and Sparkman. On the single file restart, Cooper used turn four to get around Legore for third. A lap later and Simmerman was getting back into the top five after his spin, going low in turn two to get fifth from Sparkman. On lap eighteen McLaughlin was trying to get back intouch with the leader, taking seventh from Tommy Garcia. As the white flag waved, Cooper spun his ride in turn two out of the third spot, loosing two to end up in fifth. Corey Stepan won by a car length over Wilson.

Corey Stepan dedicated his first win of the year and the class, from his fifth starting spot, to his brother who is deploying to Iraq for his second tour of duty next month.

Fifteen Hertz Rent A Car I. M. C. A. Southern SportMods were next to try the track for fifteen laps. Taking the early lead it was former I. M. C. A. Modified track champion, Hardy Henderson in the lead. Then it was Robert Carr, Billy White, Kevin West in second through fourth. Kenny Ware, Shad Stevens, and Shannon Dulock were three wide for fifth, with Ware getting that spot going into turn three. On lap two, Ware used the low line in turn two to take over fourth from West. Two laps later and Ware was trying the same move, in the same turn, to try and take third from White. But White would hold him off going down the back straight. It was a replay a lap later, only this time they raced wheel to wheel into turn four. Ware would bobble badly, and lost three spots, ending up in seventh.

On lap seven, Pat McGuire got around West for fourth in turn three. McGuire would loop his ride in turn one, getting help in going around by West. On lap ten the first caution of the race came out for David Goode's spun and stranded car in turn four. West would be penalized for the contact with McGuire and would have to restart shotgun on the field. During the caution laps, Stevens would receive a black flag for a bumper that was in danger of falling off. He would go to the red-yellow area and return to the race before the green flag.

The restart top five on lap nine were Henderson in the lead, followed by Carr, White, Ware and Dulock. On the restart, Carr would use just a tad to much right foot, and spun off of turn four into the infield, loosing many spots. Dulock would get around Ware on the front stretch, then White on the back stretch to take over second. The second caution was thrown on lap twelve when Corey Homan blew his engine on the back stretch and spun to a stop in turn three.

Top five were Henderson, Dulock, White, Ware and Stevens. Brandon Stewart was lurking back in sixth. On the restart of lap eleven, the field wouldn't get far, as Goode once again looped his ride in turn three, Carr spun to miss and lost fire under the hood, necessitating another try at a start. This next try was better and the field was set for the last four laps. On lap twelve Dulock got too high in turn three and lost a number of positions. Stevens got around Ware for third. No one had anything for Henderson as he pulled his Southern SportMods into victory lane for his first career win in the class.

The always wild and wooly Budweiser Racing Texas Twisters were the next to put on a show. Seventeen of the cars that race, not race cars raced for fifteen laps. It was side by side, door handle to door handle as they raced into turn one. It would be Gary White getting the top spot in turn three, followed by Howard Twardokus, Jared Bouchie, Brian Mendenhall, and Larry Tuerck. On lap two, Jared Bouchie would pull off the track from third. That put Nasty Nate Cullifer into fifth.

On lap six, Mendenhall and Twardokus were side by side down the front straight. It would take Mendenhall all the way to turn three to finally get the second spot. Twardokus would try to get the second spot back from Mendenhall on lap eight, but couldn't get the job done in turn two. On lap twelve Tuerck would go way high in turn two, but held onto the fourth position. With three to go, Mendenhall would pull up to the back bumper on the leader White. White and Mendenhall spent the rest of the laps duking it out for the lead. With the white flag waving, Mendenhall and White banged doors hard in turn one, but White held on to the top spot. In turn three Mendenhall used the high side to pull alongside White. The two raced hard off of turn four and down the front stretch to the checkered flag. Mendenhall, who was the first driver ever to claim a Texas Twister, beat the points leader White to the line by a half car length to claim his first ever victory.

After the race it was announced that the top two cars were claimed. This is the second car in a row that Mendenhall has lost. These cars are claimable by anyone presenting $500 to the front gate before the Budweiser Racing Texas Twister feature race.

Twelve Cottman Transmissions Mini Stocks pulled out to contest fifteen laps of feature racing. On the drop of the green flag, it was Daniel Shipler and Rickey Reid side by side for the lead. Reid got the lead in turn three. In turn four, David Stewart got turned sideways, first spinning towards the infield, then hook spinning back to the right hard. He almost flipped as Jason Hoffman and Julie “Kelly” Zwiefelhofer got caught up in the schnoozle. Stewart was shaken up for a bit, but would finally walk away from his very torn up ride. Hoffman's night would be over as well, and K. Zwiefelhofer would return after repairs in the red-yellow area. Reid would pull off the track, and out of the race during the caution period.

On the original restart, the field went three wide, with Mike Autrey down low, Ronnie Ellis Jr up high, and pole sitter, Shipler the meat in the middle. As they hit the back stright, it was Shipler's truck in the lead, with PJ Egbert flying into second, Autrey in third, and Travis Zwiefelhofer in fourth. In turn four, Egbert would take the lead, only needing four corners to take the lead from his eighth starting spot.

Considerable shuffling was going on behind Egbert the leader, and on lap two it was T. Zwiefelhofer in second, Ellis Jr in third, Shipler in fourth, and Bill Seigman in fifth. Things settled down for five laps, until on lap seven, Ellis Jr would use the lapped car of Jason Russel as a pick to get by T. Zwiefelhofer on the back stretch. On lap nine, T. Zwiefelhofer would get under Ellis Jr in turn two and make the pass stick for second before they reached turn three. A lap later and Ellis Jr would get the run out of two and he and T. Zwiefelhofer banged doors as they raced down the back straight, but Ellis Jr couldn't complete the pass for second.

On lap eleven, Shipler would slow dramatically coming out of turn two. He would roll slowly around to the pits and pulled off. Egbert had a half straight lead over the terrific battle for second as the white flag flew. Ellis Jr would just get by T. Zwiefelhofer at the line, when T. Zwiefelhofer slowed just feet from the line. Egbert went on to win his track leading tenth win of the year in his little brother's car.

Up next were sixteen of the Corbin & Associates, Atty's I. M. C. A. Stocks to race fifteen laps. As they raced to the back stretch on the green flag lap it was Zana Craig in the lead, followed by Anthony Otken, Gary Norman, Jon Nelison, and Benji Kirkpatrick. Jessie James Cox Jr would take fifth away from Kirkpatrick in turn four. On the next lap, in turn two, Tommy Honey, Eric Jones, and Shad Stevens ended up in a wad, bring out the yellow flag. Jones, the points leader, would not be able to continue. The top five remained the same.

On the restart, Otken and Norman were door handle to door handle in turn two. Norman would run too high going down back straight and he would loose many spots as a result. Jon Nelison then spun in turn four, bring out another yellow flag, giving Norman his spots back. The officials ruled that Nelison's spin was caused by Jacob Dunn, and he was sent to the pit area, to join Jones as the only two cars out of the race. On top five were Craig, Otken, Norman, Cox Jr, and Kirkpatrick.

Norman would pounce on Otken as they raced down the back straight on the restart, taking over second. Then Kirkpatrick , after dispatching Cox Jr, would get around Otken in turn four to move to third. On lap two, Kirkpatrick would challenge Norman in turn three. They raced side by side to turn three, on lap three, where Kirkpatrick finally took the second spot from Norman. Two lap later and Norman would try to get back by Kirkpatrick, going wheel to wheel with him in turn two. The again raced hard, before Kirkpatrick got a better run off of turn four and kept sole possession of second going into turn one.

On lap five, Stevens and Ray Tinkey, racing for the last time before deploying to Iraq in August, touched on the front stretch. Tinkey's car started to spin towards the wall then dug in and started flipping. The car rolled twice before coming to a rest back on his wheels. Though just having gone through a wild ride, Tinkey walked away from the accident unharmed.

The single file restart had Craig still in the lead chased by Kirkpatrick, Norman, Ron Simpson, and Jason Honey. On the restart, Kirkpatrick would get under Craig in turn two. He would finally complete the pass for the lead in turn three. A lap later and J. Honey would get by both Simpson and Norman to get into third. A lap later and J. Honey would challenge Craig for second in turn three but Craig high line worked better off of turn four and she held J. Honey off. Meanwhile, on the same lap, Simpson was passing Norman for fourth on the same lap.

On the ninth lap J. Honey finally got around Craig, with Simpson following him around the rookie racer. As the laps wound down, the top seven on lap twelve were Kirkpatrick, J. Honey, Simpson, Craig, Norman, Otken, and Cox Jr. As the white flag was being displayed to the field, Otken would get around Norman in turn two to take over fifth. Kirkpatrick would add another 40 point win to his total this year, as the third place driver in the nation won his fifth race of the year from the eighth starting spot.

The Dodge Country I. M. C. A. Modifieds were the last race on the card for the night. Seventeen of the fire breathing, ground pounding cars took to the track for twenty laps. It was Allen Waltimire out to the early lead as the green flag waved. Slotting into second was Gary Simmerman followed by Ken Old, Andrew Simmerman, and Pat McGuire rounding out the top five. On lap one, turn one, McGuire got around A. Simmerman to get fourth. McGuire then used the back stretch to get around Old for third. McGuire's march to the front wasn't complete though, as he rocketed around G. Simmerman in turn four, and took over second. G. Simmerman would fall further back as Old, A. Simmerman and PJ Egbert got around him as well.

The first yellow flag was displayed on lap six for Wayne Walker's drive shaft that was laying on the track in turn two. The top five were Waltimire, McGuire, Old, A. Simmerman and PJ Egbert. On the lap five restart, PJ Egbert would get around A. Simmerman in turn four for fourth. T. Egbert would get by G. Simmerman to get to sixth, then both he and G. Simmerman got around A. Simmerman in turn one, following PJ Egbert through the opened door.

On lap six the leader, Waltimire, pulled off the track and out of the race. That handed the lead to McGuire, followed by Old, PJ Egbert, T. Egbert, and the two Simmerman boys, Gary ahead of Andrew. A lap later and PJ Egbert got around Old, putting his bright pink car into second. On lap nine, T. Egbert was battling wheel to wheel with Old on the back stretch, but Old would hold on to third. Lap ten and Danny Gribble would move into the top ten, getting around A. Simmerman in turn one. One lap later and it would be Gribble making the same move in the same corner to put G. Simmerman behind him.

The battle for the lead heated up on lap sixteen and PJ Egbert dove to the bottom of turn one under McGuire. McGuire would get a better run on the high side out of two and retained the top spot. With three laps to go, T. Egbert would finally get around Old for third. PJ Egbert was throwing everything he had at McGuire, but as they raced to the checkered flag, it was McGuire winning from the sixth spot by five car lengths. It was McGuire's fifth win of the year.
