As drivers from every class walked through the stands over $1200.00 was raised for the family and I'm sure there is more still to come. Race fans are the greatest family in the world! As racing action got underway for the evening the Texas Pro Sedans were up first. Donnie Moore grabbed the checkers in the first heat and Sergio Hexsel was the top of the second heat. In the 20 lap feature Donnie Moore extended his winning streak, once again crossing the stripe ahead of the rest of the pack and extended his season point lead. The second feature of the night showcased the THR Hobby Stocks. Roy Loveday and Kevin Bowen had reason to feel good about their chances having taken home the checkers earlier in the heat races. After 20 laps of hard racing it was Gary Chancellor Jr. who made his way through the field to get to victory lane first. Top five were Gary Chancellor Jr., Jeff Smith, Gary Chancellor, Kevin Bowen and Roy Loveday. The Lone Star Legacy's hit the track next for fifty exciting laps of racing action. When the smoke cleared and the checkers flew it was James Lee standing at the top of the hill for the night. Lee held off challengers Dillon Spreen, Jeff Weir, Trey Mitchell and Jake Kruger who rounded out the top five for the night. The always exciting NASKARTS were the final race before intermission and as always put on a show for the fans. Mike Steinman was the winner with Chris Terry close behind. As the cars and stars of the Texas Super Racing Series lined up for the Kevin Suberg Memorial 75 fans remembered their little hero by wearing green ribbons with an angel holding a checkered flag. Longtime Austin favorite Tommy Gural got by Kyle Sirizzotti on lap 15 and held off charges from Ryan Englehardt, Ian Webster and James Reeder to claim his seventh career victory with the series. Top five for the night was Tommy Gural, James Reeder, Craig Selman, Teresa Gural and John Heil. The Texas Dwarf cars took the track next for a 20 lap dash. Michael Hammond and Arden Vikre had already made it to victory once in the heat races and were optimistic they could do it again. Vikre was successful and was able to hold back Keith Roach, Warren Titerele Kelvin Chandler and Eric Schmitt who filled out the top five. The Street Stocks hit the track with lots of adrenaline as they prepared for 30 laps of trading paint. Chris Birmingham and David Hassinger already had logged heat wins on the evening and had to be considered top contenders to take the feature. As they crossed under the waiving checkers however it was the green machine of David Webster at the front of the pack taking his second win of the year. Webster was followed by Hassinger, Bobby Teer Jr., Doug Ayers and Cary Stapp as the top five for the night. In the final race of the evening it was the Grand Stocks gearing up for a 15 lap run for the gold. Mike Farish took the checkers in the first heat and James Lynch Jr. went wire to wire in the second heat to win. As the field cross the finish line it was James Lynch Jr. in his lucky #13 machine. Following Lynch Jr. was Richard Fitch, Jonathon Smith, Travis O'Brien and Byron Reed filling out the top five. Most of these cars will return next Saturday night, June 3rd, as Thunder Hill Raceway goes back to back for race weekends. June 3rd will also be Scout night at THR. Any Scout in uniform will get in free and parents of Scouts will receive $2.00 off their tickets.
