tqj3 Posted May 30, 2006 Report Share Posted May 30, 2006 USRA23Truck- In no way was what I said a slam at Derricke Cope, simply stating the obvious: without "Daytona 500 Winner" in front of his name, he would be out of big time racing by now. I'm aware that he kicked booty in the Northwest, but that doesn't matter much. A lot of guys have kicked booty in Texas, but only a few have gone farther. I'm sorry if you took my comments about either Cope or Waltrip as a slap at their driving ability. As for driving, I had my time in the seat, and only wish I had known then half of what I know now. To paraphrase what he said about Mikey buying a ride...He said he's good friends with Waltrip, that Waltrip did NOT want to buy the ride but he did it because he owed it to his sponsor, NAPA, and his other sponsors... And...Mikey's just taking after his brother, DW, who also bought a ride back in 2000... Personally, I don't like it...but as they say, that's business!
