Thunder Hill “Long Shots on a Short Track” Oscar Contender

Looks like Austin filmmaker, Merle Bertrand, has a big hit on his hands with his latest documentary titled, “Thunder Hill – Long Shots on a Short Track.” The impressive list of Austin racing racers and fans discussing the movie after its’ World Premiere were talking about the quality of the filming and how it captured the passion these drivers have for their sport.

 

“Well, we're slowly coming back to Earth,” said Bertrand after the premiere. “All the feedback we've received on the film itself so far has been extremely positive. Next up the search for a distributor begins, as do our efforts to get it to the cable folks (Speed Channel, TNT, ESPN, FX, etc.) That and DVD is where this film was meant to live, so we'll see what happens.”

 

Despite Oscar nominations still being a long way off, Bertrand’s insightful look at racing at the grass roots level should at least get some strong looks from the Academy. To meet Bertrand and talk more about his film, “Thunder Hill – Long Shots on a Short Track” come out to Thunder Hill Raceway this weekend, April 29th. Bertrand and his co-producer, Kristina Weber will both be attending this weekend’s big show.
