Texas Pro Sedans next races at San Antonio Speedway

The San Antonio headquartered Texas Pro Sedans will resume their 2006 racing season at San Antonio Speedway on Saturday night, April 15. The Texas Pro Sedans series has had a five week break since conducting their first race of the new season which was held at San Antonio Speedway on March 11.

 

The April 15 event will a first for the 31 year old TPS series. They will hold their second and third races of the new season on the same night. A pair of 20 lap “Twin Features” will be contested on the ½, high banked asphalt track south of San Antonio on Highway 16.

 

The TPS racing event will consist of a 20 Lap Feature Race to initiate the nights racing program. Later in the SAS race schedule, a second 20 Lap Feature Race will be held. The starting grid will be composed with a partial inversion of the field based on running order results from Feature Race # 1. Both races will be run under Texas Pro Sedans rules and procedures in which yellow flag laps are not scored. A green-white-checkered flag is required to officially finish a TPS race under full racing conditions.

 

Texas Pro Sedans Race and Administrative Director, Neil Upchurch has announced that a pre-entry list of 25 Texas Pro Sedans has been received for the April 15 race at SAS.

 

Included in the race entry list are all but one of the point leading drivers from the first TPS race at SAS. All other TPS Driver Championship point leaders at this early season juncture will compete. Included in the entry list are:

 

> Donnie Moore of Hutto, Texas leads the 2006 TPS Driver’s points chase. He will be at the controls of the George Merrell #70 VW Scirocco driving the car in which carried him to the SAS Winners Circle on March 11. Moore was also the 1990 TPS Champion.

 

> Jack Dishman of Devine, Texas placed second only .68 seconds behind Moore in the Feature Race at TPS’s last event on March 11 at SAS. He will drive his #2 Ford Mustang.

 

> Sergio Hexsel of San Antonio is the defending TPS Champion. He will be up on the wheel of his #20 VW Rabbit with hopes of improving his TPS points standing.

 

A complete program of SAS Late Model, Sportsman, Roadrunners and Grand Stock Division racing will highlight the April 15th racing program at San Antonio Speedway.
