  1. And for my sister it was Monty Nicholls. Two years ago he still remembered her after nearly 30 years. It was a cool moment.
  2. When we went in the pits, I was one of the little brats getting autographs in the white spaces of a checkered flag or trying to jump in a car. Guess I was attracted to green b/c most of my in car pics are in John Kelly's cars.
  3. Maybe tomorrow or next weekend I'll put some more up that I can find. Nice little trip down memory lane today with the ones not posted and made me miss SAS again.
  4. Those were just a few I found. My dad informed me that orange 98 was Harold Cope. Lets see 1990 I was an 8 year old running around the playground or playing Track and Field or Donkey Kong in the game room lol.
  5. The chrome horn may be used but not to take someone out. It's the bull ring, I expect thumps on my rear bumper too.
  6. Not at all and not the reputation I want. Of course the driver that told me this trick is from the era of a fight every week. Of course the tires don't stick out on our bombers as much as they did back then so it would be difficult to pull off.
  7. Don't think I'll use them b/c one is dirty and may hurt someone don't ever want to do that, the other if you do it wrong, they go around and you go to the back.
  8. The ones I know are a little more subtle.
  9. He got caught one night lol but yes I've been told a few tricks by these racing veterans, one of which was done to my dad at Supertrack Grand Prix, the birth of the Luche
  10. Not too long, the white one with Vernon's and Nolan's is the one I remember. Think that was the car he had a brake pro portioning valve under the seat lol
  11. Just looked at the black 19 up close and you can read the name Chuck Barber on the roof, that white 3 was Kevin Harms and blue 33 was Scott Sullivan.
  12. Maybe Bruce Beddoe? He had MGD sponsors for years. Chuck is just the only 19 in my memory bank
  13. First Picture I think is Joey Heineman and possibly Mike McCain, second row both Chuck Barber I think, third row you got me, first one looks like a dirt late model, then the 18 is John Kaminski. Second Picture Larry Smith and I don't know that 98, Bruce Sanders maybe? Second row Greg Carlucci and Kendal Laughlin, the 3 car I don't know. Third row, maybe James Mikulencak in both, not sure. Third Picture John Witzche and I believe Scott or John Sullivan, Johnny White then the original dwarf car John Kobbus maybe and I'm not sure who's in the 5 Mini Stock, Carlucci Sr and Carlucci Jr And of course the last one was Tommy Temple
  14. It is. Don't know why they turned when I posted them but yes the last one is Tommy Temple's car, couldn't tell you who he bought it from.
  15. Sorry it took so long but here's a few:
  16. Sorry it took so long but here are a few of the pics I have:
  17. Damn Bobby will even have to travel to fish lol. Unless you like saltwater. New debate, Saltwater fishing vs Freshwater lol. HiTech, I would love to see the Trucks, Mods, and Late Models, but more than 5-6, hell I want to see more than 5-6 SS. But til they show up, gotta build local classes since they're the ones that keep the track open, those other guys should add excitement and if they show up with strong numbers, I would think locals would want to come out as well. Be kinda thrill for a bomber driver to say, ya I won the night Super Late Model driver won, or I raced the same night as Pro Mod etc.
  18. I know of a few Super Streets being built and a few more that are sitting right now. I know one of the SS drivers and grew up next to one that is setting up for STS. I'm not sure why the SS aren't showing up, but they aren't showing up anywhere. I don't know if this is a rules package, payout issue or what but from a fan's perspective it's a great in between class. A progression from a bomber/mini but not quite ready for a Super Stock or Late Model or Mod. One thing that was mentioned in this thread was the lack of interest apparently shown at a rules meeting. I would venture to say the 3-4 SS that show up every Saturday were the ones at the meetings. If there's a rule issue, I think that needs to be ironed out in the beginning or before the season. Changing rules rarely works that I've seen. Also, I don't agree with turning someone away but what I've seen, tracks are willing to let you race but let's face it, CCS has a lot of budget drivers. No one out there has the money to spend thousands of dollars to race. You look at the other tracks, they have cars that have far more money put into their cars than the CCS guys. Not a knock on those teams that have the money to invest, but CCS drivers won't be able to compete with that financially. With that being said, IMO the best thing to do is to focus on building the local classes locally. Send the invite to the other classes on certain nights but don't expect the CTS, HMP, or SAS guys to come down for a local class. The CCS guys that want to run up there will find a way. JMO and not intended to ruffle feathers. From a fan, thank you to the Trucks and Pro Mods that did show up and did what you could to help the show. The Pro Sedans always show up and CCS is a good track for them. One more suggestion, I think the only "visiting" series that should come are the Dwarfs and Pro Sedans b/c they always bring at least a dozen and they race hard (again not intended to ruffle the feathers of you other guys that did show up and raced)
  19. Oh man, my apologies, forgot all about this thread. When time allows I'll raid mom's china hutch and dig out some of these pics.
  20. One of these weekends I'll go through the thousands of pics I have from CC Speedway from the 80s and 90s, locals and touring series and most I took as a kid/early teen. Growing up a block away from the Carluccis I have had the racing blood injected since birth. Kaminsky lived in the neighborhood at one time and some others. GB I have a picture of one of the Outlaw Minis I assume is an Evans since it was black and yellow 46 and I have one of a red and orange car forget the number but I thought they were dirt late models or what the super stocks look like now. Anyways we have several pics of Monte Nichols, Slick, Rick, Bruce Sanders, and John Kelly b/c back then the coolest thing in the world was going to their cars after the races and getting to sit in one. Don't see that too much anymore, that and candy giveaways or characters like Elmer Jean throwing bubble gum.
