Houston Motorsports Park
HMP Race Teams, As HMP has previously communicated, we will start a maximum of 20 cars per class in the feature at each event this year. However, with the large number of registered NASCAR Fiesta Modifieds and NASCAR BWFS 360 Trucks, we realize that this may leave a few racers without much opportunity to make it to the feature. Therefore, anytime except for SpeedFest, that we have a minimum of 26 cars/trucks in a class, we will have a Second Chance Heat Race known as Sudden Death. This is only for the cars that do not make it into the top 20 from the regular heats. It will be a Sudden Death format as follows: SUDDEN DEATH Three Green Flag laps for everyone. Each lap after the third lap, last place will be black flagged until we are down to two cars. Those two cars will advance to the feature, making the feature field 22 cars in total. Of course, participation in Sudden Death is completely voluntary. However, this format will give every racer two Heat Races to make the feature. Thank you to the many of you that provided feedback about this issue. With your continued support and constructive feedback, we will continue to improve our program. As always, if you have any questions or comments, please give me a call or send me an email. NickHolt
Great move, John! It's great to hear about the "problem" of too many cars! Sounds like we're getting ready for a breakthrough year at HMP! Nick
