Another two bite the dust: USMTS weekend washed out in Oklahoma

COLCORD, Okla.-It's bad enough that Uncle Sam picked our pockets yesterday, but now his distant cousin, Mother Nature, has decided to rain on the USMTS parade again.

With the soil in Oklahoma already soaked from heavy rain this week, coupled with an iron-clad guarantee from weather "experts" of more to come, USMTS and track officials have been forced to pull the plug on this weekend's MSD Central Region doubleheader.

Originally slated for Friday and Saturday, make-up dates are now being pondered for the Flint Creek Speedway and Salina Highbanks Speedway.

"I'm thinking that some tracks in California should schedule some USMTS races," said series President Todd Staley. "We could surely bring them some much-needed rain for their drought problem."

Alas, another week of April showers has soaked the plans of race fans, but the cartel of carbureted USMTS cowboys will be back in the saddle next week with a four-night swing as they gallop though Oklahoma, Texas and Louisiana.

The week starts off on Wednesday, April 22, at the Southern Oklahoma Speedway in Ardmore, and then moves back to the Dallas-Fort Worth area for a do-over on Thursday, April 23, at the RPM Speedway in Crandall, Texas. On Friday, April 24, the series slides into the Ark-La-Tex Speedway in Vivian, La.; before wrapping up the tour on Saturday, April 25, at the Boothill Speedway in Greenwood, La.

All four events will pay $3,000 to win and award valuable points in the Double H Bands Southern Region presented by Day Motor Sports.
