  1. Nice comparison regarding Bowman and Labonte.  Hadn’t really thought about it...and that’s coming from a huge Terry Labonte fan.

Thought it was a good race overall.  Ratings were up a fair amount - especially in the big cities.

A big difference between 1979 and 2020....cellphones and technology - so many more options than 3 major networks, PBS and a local station or two.

There should be an abundance of those shop towels lying around race shops since most of us just wipe the grease off on our jeans anyway.

That would work in an emergency, I would be concerned about them not breaking down and clogging a line - especially with my kids who like to use a lot of it.

    Worst case - go organic

  3. I have always been a Blaney fan - not just Ryan, but Dave, Dale and Lou as well.  If not for a questionable decision and worn out tire he easily could have won the last two races.

Bowman has been right there as well.

Yeah, “if” doesn’t matter.  But there could be the makings of a rivalry if Bowman and Blaney continue running the way they are.

Brian France being out is a HUGE factor. Now for a reality check. Daytona and Talladega are an easy sell. You get close racing throughout which real race fans like and guaranteed crashing which others like. Let's see if the other tracks can push that momentum on or they put on the boring 7+ second separations between places like before. To sustain you gotta have close racing. We shall see.

    Great point.

The new drivers   THIS YEAR  has my attention  including some over the last couple of seasons .. . nascar  its self hasn't done much to get my attention . the teams are bringing in some really good young racers  and that helps .. just have to add a new dessert once in while ....will I sit and watch more races ..  to many cookie cutter tracks so NIO   most of those tracks look the same to me .. . I will keep up with the young drivers more ..

Along those lines, I think back in the early 00’s there were drivers who showed up in the top tiers of the sport and we had no idea where they came from.

With live streaming, you can watch most any national touring series (USAC, WoO, ARCA), major events (Snowball), and even some local races.  More people can identify with where these guys are coming from.  People may complain about technology and mobile devices, but promoters of major racing organizations have done a great job of bringing short track racing to the masses.

I think it proves the demand is still there, even if crowds at the track aren’t what they once were.

Also, I think Dale Jr found his calling with his show.  He does a great job bringing old and new personalities to the forefront while giving relevant information and perspective to what is happening right now.

Won’t even get into the new NASCAR leadership....Brian no longer being there is the best thing that could have happened.

  6. Reading the twitter feed, they apparently didn’t cover the car, so there’s a little glimmer of hope there.

More concerned about what Gordon and Joy didn’t say....just have to wait for the  update and say some prayers.

    Me 2 SoCal dude.

We saw em' play @ da Murf (SD/CA) back in the late 80's...

Bitchin' Show! Still have the tickets!

But not sure I get your drift? B)

When I read your post, I saw “U2” and immediately thought of the band - I totally overlooked the reference to Tim/Josh.  So, I read it as the band said something about Danica’s replacement...just the way my mind worked for a second.

Saw them three times. Back on The Joshua Tree tour in Philadelphia, then 2005 in Anaheim and 2018 in Los Angeles.

Great shows, all different in their own way.
