TPS Awards Dinner & Business Meeting Held

The Texas Pro Sedans Series 2015 annual Awards Dinner and Business Meeting was held for TPS Drivers, Car Owners, Members, TPS Officials, Sponsors, Media and TPS fans at the Little Red Barn Steakhouse in San Antonio, Texas on Sunday, December 13, 2015. The annual affair was attended by more than 43 enthusiastic participants and guests. The event was presented by co-master-of-ceremonies David Mackey and Neil Upchurch.

The Dinner and AWARDS PROGRAM began at 3:00pm and concluded with the annual TPS Business Meeting.

Receiving championship awards were the 2015 (now seven time) Texas Pro Sedans Champion driver #20 Sergio Hexsel of Garden Ridge, Texas and … #81 Cesar Garrido of Houston. He received the 2015 TPS “Rookie of the Year” award. Both drivers were presented with a Texas Pro Sedans Champions Plaque and a Hoosier Racing Tire Jacket and responded with their thank you speeches to their crews and sponsors and appreciation to TPS Officials and host tracks Central Texas Speedway and CC Speedway.

Sponsor Award Winners:

Patrick Limerick will receive another Texas Pro Sedans Major Sponsor Appreciation Plaque Award to be delivered by Lalo Leal.
Johnny Guerra received his third Texas Pro Sedans Participating Sponsorship Appreciation Plaque Award.

100% race participation checks and a TPS Souvenir were presented to: #01 - Tommy Goldman, #10 - Bruce Mabrito,
#25 - Sterling Beck, #28 - Lisa Sandoval, #77 - Mike Knotts and #81 - Cesar Garrido.

David Mackey is stepping down as TPS Race Director. He received a Hoosier Racing Tire Jacket special award for his many years of service as a Texas Pro Sedan Driver and Race Official and as the TPS Race Director during the 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 seasons. Mackey responded by addressing his appreciation to all Texas Pro Sedans members and all other TPS officials and to host tracks Central Texas Speedway and CC Speedway for their help in conducting TPS races and all who support TPS.

Charysse Knotts was in town from her job in Frankfurt Germany to receive a TPS Appreciation Plaque Award for her many years of her special service as the Texas Pro Sedans website manager.

The Texas Pro Sedans Series 2015 annual Awards Dinner Keynote Speaker was Mike Knotts. Mike has been a TPS driver for its entire 40 year history. He shared historical and humorous memories and stories about his Texas Pro Sedans racing at Texas World Speedway, 24 Hours of Monterrey, Mexico and a large number of races at southwest tracks. His presentation was supported by projected videos with sound and photos.

Bruce Mabrito presented his traditional poetic “ODE” which colorfully summarized the 2015 Texas Pro Sedan racing season and varied performance details and stories. Mabrito’s presentation script will be posted on www.texasprosedans.com

Following the Awards presentations, the annual TPS business meeting was co-conducted by Neil Upchurch and David Mackey.

The annual TPS business meeting was highlighted by unanimous member selection of a new Chief Inspector. Alan Trollinger of New Braunfels, Texas was selected to be the TPS Chief Inspector by show of hands approval from the TPS members who attended.

After the new Chief Inspector was selected, Neil Upchurch announced his 2016 plans. He decided to expand his duties to TPS Administrative as well as Publications Director.

David Mackey announced his decision to assume the newly established duties of TPS Race Steward at CTS.

Russ Martin could not attend, but announced his decision (by proxy authorization to Neil Upchurch) to assume the newly established duties of TPS Race Steward at CCS.

2016 Membership Application forms were distributed and dues payments were received to reserve 2016 car numbers. Note: The TPS 2016 Membership Application blank form is currently posted on www.texasprosedans.com

Printed 2016 Texas Pro Sedans Rules and Specifications were not distributed as usual at the business meeting in order to allow review and approval by all TPS Technical Committee Officials, Neil Upchurch - TPS Administrative & Publications Director, Alan Trollinger - TPS Chief Inspector, David Mackey TPS Race Steward at CTS and Russ Martin TPS Race Steward CCS.

It is expected that by January 13, 2016, finalized and approved TPS Rules and Specifications will be e-mailed to all 2016 members and also posted on www.texasprosedans.com

Neil Upchurch revealed early plans for the 2016 Texas Pro Sedans season race schedule. Proposed race dates are being negotiated with Central Texas Speedway. (Race date proposals to CC Speedway will necessarily follow confirmation of TPS race dates at CTS).

The 2016 Racing Schedule will be e-mailed to all 2016 members and posted on the TPS Forum of www.LoneStarSpeedzone.com and www.texasprosedans.com after both tracks have agreed and have been contracted.

All Texas Pro Sedans members, officials, sponsors and fans were congratulated for attending the season ending event to professionally complete the 40th consecutive TPS season and initiate the 41st consecutive season of Texas Pro Sedans series racing.
