ICAR Top Speed Modified Tour Southern Division Returns To Action At The Legendary Winchester Speedway - First of two appearances at the famed 1/2 mile part of Labor Day Holiday Weekend World Stock Car Festival

 

Angola, Indiana (Tuesday, September 1, 2015): The Broaster Chicken ICAR Top Speed Modified Tour Southern Division has enjoyed a bit of a break in the action since last competing in early August. With time to regroup, the open-wheel cars and stars are getting back into the swing of things with a date at the historical 1/2 (0.500) mile high-banked paved oval of Winchester Speedway in Winchester, Indiana for the Inaugural Mike Friend Memorial 40 Presented by Genuine Broaster Chicken on Sunday-Monday, September 6-7th. The Entry Form is available and due at the ICAR Home Offices in Angola, Indiana by Saturday, September 5th to avoid the Late Entry Fee.

 

The only open-wheeled division on hand for the tracks prestigious Labor Day Holiday Weekend World Stock Car Festival will see the premier Modified Tour in the country visit the track that has hosted ICAR the most in the series' 27-year history. The 40-lap main around the famed 1/2 mile will honor the memory of the late Mike Friend, a former Tech Official for the Tour back in the USA Modified Series days as well as a Winchester Track Official at the Main Gate. The Peru, Indiana native passed away on September 15th, 2014 after an unexpected illness.

 

For this event and every race ICAR runs at Winchester on Labor Day from here on out, the race will be known as the Mike Friend Memorial. Winchester Speedway will have lap money available for every lap of the main. For $10 per lap, all money will go directly to the teams. In addition, whoever sponsors a lap; they can pick any position in the field on that lap and whoever is running in that position wins the money. The Friend Family will also have a drawing with of drivers within the starting lineup with each winning a $50 bill.

 

In addition, Van Hoy Oil will be at Winchester Speedway on Saturday, Sunday and Monday of the Labor Day Weekend World Stock Car Festival to provide all ICAR teams with their Race Fuel needs. Van Hoy Oil will have Sunoco Purple 110, the Official Spec Fuel of the ICAR Top Speed Modified Tour, on hand for teams to purchase. In addition, Van Hoy Oil will also sponsor the weekends Van Hoy Oil Hard-Charger award to the driver advancing the most positions in the 40-lap main. The Hard-Charger award winner will receive a $150 bonus for their efforts. Van Hoy Oil is located in Knightstown, Indiana and is owned and operated by Jeff Van Hoy.

 

Going into the Inaugural Mike Friend Memorial 40, the all-time career leader in wins in ICAR history, Brian Nester is the ICAR Southern Division point's leader and is, amazingly, in search of his first career Championship on the tour. The Hamilton, Indiana driver in his #11 Burkett-Nester Racecars machine goes into the weekend with a healthy 215 point advantage over 2014 ARCA Truck Series Champion, Danny Jackson with just two events remaining after this one. 2013 Tour Champion, Tim Burkett is third in the standings ahead of Bud Adams as Greg Fullarton completes the top five. Trei Deubel is the current M.P.H. Promotions Rookie of the Year point's leader heading into the legendary high-banks.

 

The Inaugural Mike Friend Memorial 40 Presented by Genuine Broaster Chicken will see the ICAR Southern Division Teams join all four classes within Champion Racing Association (CRA) Powered by JEGS as well as the Vore's Compact Touring Series during the Labor Day Holiday weekend. There will also be a test and tune day at the track on Saturday, September 5th. The Pit Gates open at 10:00a.m., with Rotating Practice going from 1:00-5:00 p.m.

 

After Winchester, the ICAR Top Speed Modified Tour will be right back in action just six days later on a special Sunday afternoon, September 13th with the tours first appearance in 12 years to the 1/3 (0.333) mile semi-banked, circular shaped paved oval of Columbus Motor Speedway (OH) located southeast of Columbus in Obetz, Ohio. The ICAR Top Speed Modified Tour will be on hand with the final Northern VS Southern Division combination race of the 2015 racing season, the Jason Dietsch Trailer Sales 50 Presented by One Call Lawn Care.

 

The race will serve in support of the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS event, the 2nd Annual Bud St. Amant Memorial 125 Presented by Oakley Blacktop. The St. Amant family has graciously added a $200 bonus to the winner of ICAR's first appearance at the Buckeye State speed plant since the 2003 racing season. Making the winners share a nice $1,400 payday.

 

Both entry forms for Winchester and Columbus are available and are both due back at the ICAR Home Offices in Angola, Indiana as soon as possible to avoid the Late Entry Fees. For the Winchester race, the Entry Form is Due on Saturday, September 5th. For the Columbus event, the Entry Form is Due on Friday, September 11th.
