jracer98 Posted January 7, 2006 Report Share Posted January 7, 2006 Well...they had mopar on the 1 and dodge pulled all it's factory support out of truck racing for 06 and the had ASE on the 2 and they are not renewing for 06 either. The only thing I can remember thats similar was when Todd Bodine was leading the Busch points and the team shut done during the season. JohnsonRacing Posted January 7, 2006 Report Share Posted January 7, 2006 A little more info also, when dodge pulled support Ultra Motorsports was stated to go back to ford with F-150's, but could not come to an agreemnet with Ford. So the owner decided he was not going to run out of his pocket. Since they did win the championship the owner really felt he had nothing else to prove. D_Starr_Lori Posted January 8, 2006 Report Share Posted January 8, 2006 There's gotta be more to it than losing a sponsor..Daytona is more than a month away--They Just won the Championship, would it be that hard to find a sponsor for a championship team ??? Smith is blaming Ford..I just dont believe that! Why couldnt the team do what the 75 team did, or something similar anyways..The 75 team lost Chevy money, plus they lost their engine maker, Hutto...They partner up with Gibbs, get Gibbs engines and a diversity driver..Smith was in trouble with the EPA, maybe thats why he shut down... Perhaps David may have an inside scoop. I have not talked to other employees of Ultra Motorsports. My understanding is some employees knew and some did not. A friend that knows Ted Musgrave said he was shocked of the news. So my info is not complete just rumors. I am sure a complete reason will surface.
