You gotta love the racing and the drama there man.  Nascar hit that one out of the park.   Bell did the Hail Melon and  bubbles laid down for Bell while the Chevys blocked for Byron.   Big time fines coming probably.  But no rule against blocking.

They might get Dillon and Chastain for improperly influencing the outcome. The NBC TV guys were playing the radio conversation to Dillon and someone on the channel asked if "the 1" was aware or cooperating or something like that. NASCAR is apparently looking into it, at least on the surface. Now that NASCAR has nailed Dillon once, they shouldn't be afraid of upsetting his pawpaw for penalizing him again if needed.  At least Wallace was smart enough to say he had a tire going down - gives him cover for backing off.

I agree 24nomo about the blocking. But as texasprd said, they do about influencing the outcome of a race, or those that qualify for the playoffs or championship race. Earlier this season Dillon and Pop Pop found that out the hard way. Think back to 2013, and the whole Mike Waltrip fiasco. The radio traffic was pretty incriminating for them, and yesterday's was worse, because it involved more than 1 team. I wonder if NASCAR went and checked Bubba's tires for a flat? His car looked not to be stable, but that could been his intension. I won't be shocked if fines get handed out, but NASCAR was not going to have a Hendrick car miss the playoffs. And how would it look if there wasn't a Chevy at all in the playoffs?? It looks like NASCAR made a business decision.

Waltrips team was influencing the outcome of the race to benefit their own team.  Chastain and Dillon are not on the same team as Byron.  So, lets see how that goes.   They impounded Bubbas car, the tires were up and they tore it down looking for what broke.  No idea how the outcome of that was, but you can only guess.   I still love the drama, this playoff system brings out the worst in everyone.  I love it man

im going  on the limb ..  nascar has  promoted  manufacture  team racing for years now  ... just watch daytona  for an example //  teams of each manufacture  trying to line up  to block  .no issue  right .   spotters making deals in every race ..  no issue .. drivers   trying to help out  another .. blaney  helping another ford   win  on fuel  .no issue .. yet   this race was an issue .. ..   hypocritical  in my books .. to penalize  anyone  doing the same  on a short track ..  . etiher yes they can block on super speedways  or not  and same on short tracks . ..   ..  bell he lost   with the infraction ..  his team and his driving put  him  in that situation  ..bryons  team put him  in the same .no tires  ...  and now  who  was  right behind ross and austin .. one of big complainers brad ..  he had the chance lap after lap to change  the course  of history ..  just a tap  on the back bumper of austin  at the right moment .. could have solved all   of  this    or the  outside driver  either one  . . in my books nascar  created what they wanted ..   no one should get a penalty  outside of  what  bell did .. . now u can attack me .. i can take it .... thanks nascar you got us talking  here ..; nick get ready to moderate

Well, NASCAR actually did show they care and did something. When the VP for competition said it would be looked at later, I figured they'd sweep it under the rug.

https://www.nbcsports.com/nascar/news/nascar-suspends-9-people-from-3-teams-issues-600k-in-fines-for-actions-at-end-of-martinsville-race

https://www.cbssports.com/nascar/news/nascar-suspends-nine-people-hands-out-600k-in-fines-after-teams-manipulated-finish-at-martinsville/

Of course, the teams said they will appeal - I won't be surprised if NASCAR then backtracks, but that would really make NASCAR look weak.

How about Chandler Smiths attempt at a punch?   LOL  I never thought I would see a worse Nascar fight that John Wes Townley and Spencer Gallagher.   But we found it, another rich kid .    LOL

Follow the money on this mess. This time it looks like lawyers will be getting their piece of the money pie too.

I was fortunate to be part of the sport back when gas station pumped gas for you, cleaned your windshield and checked the oil - all without asking and for $0.28 a gallon!

Those same gas stations had at least one short track car out back or taking up one of the bays. The driver was the guy who pumped gas and the crew were kids from the neighborhood or an uncle or cousin or something. Big money was when enough of it was scraped up to buy a new right front tire. The car's sponsor was probably the body shop that donated junk parts or the owner of the gas station where the driver worked. The purse was whatever was collected when a hat was passed among the spectators.  Pickups and car hoods were the grandstands.

It was fun and it was real and the rules were whatever everyone was running. If someone got too fast, they found themselves facing a group of hostile, yet righteous drivers. Everyone knew what was fair and what wasn't, and if someone didn't want to play fair, they ended up wishing they had.

As a teenager (late 1950s) I was part of the deal and even got to drive one of those jalopies for Ashmore's Body Shop on a half-mile dirt track in Ellsworth Falls, Maine, on occasion.

Of course, that track is long gone as are the days when stock car racing was an authentic sport.

I like today much better.  We get to sit on the couch in the ac with a race monitor app and streaming tv.   No need to go to the track any more.  We have Floracing and Racing America to show us tons of local short track racing across the county.  Every now and then, it is fun to go to the Snowball Derby and get a smell of it
