ron.brown11
The Tom Usry #17 was driven by Daniel Silvestri to a 20th place run. The car had a beautiful wrap on it, but I still love the Wood Bros Purolator paint scheme better. The car was really strong for most of the race (running top 6 most of the time). I don't know if he burnt the tires off it, or something else happened. But once the slide started, it was slow but steady. There was 1 bad crash because Brendan Pierce (I think it was him), blew an engine on the front straight. I think that there was a total of 8 cars involved, including Connor Hall. I watched this race pretty late, so some of my recollections may be a bit fuzzy because a a big dose of Ambien was starting to cloud my mind lol. The first of the 4 heat races went green/checkered. Unfortunately that wasn't the case for the other 3. But with 80 cars trying to get into a 40 car field, stuff is going to happen. Last year's winner, Trevor Ward, almost didn't make it to the main. He started on the front row of his heat, but jumped the start coming to the opening green flag. He went 2 laps down, but got them back via the wave around following a couple of quick yellows. He started almost last, but had a really strong car. He would have been a tough competitor if not for that. He had something happen to derail his run, but he made it into the top 10 prior to that happening.
NickHolt
National-level paved short-track racing seems to thrive while local racing basically limps along.

There's a lot of truth in that statement Nick. But I'm thinking/hopeful that there will be some trickle down from it. At least I hope so.
