ron.brown11
So far there have been 4 surprises for the Pro late models in qualifying. 1) Only 13 cars took time for this event. 2) Spencer Davis qualified 8th of the 13. I don't think he's qualified that low before this season. 3) Kaden Honeycutt qualified on the pole. That will give him 2 more points in the standings, as he tries to catch Davis. 4) Kaden did this driving for new team, in his first attempt. I'm not sure what happened between him & the #51 team, but he's driving the #47 car, and is a teammate to the #6 of Brandon Lopez. I've seen Lopez run Hickory several times, and I think that car is run out of the Dennis Setzer shop, but I'm not positive on that. Apparently Kaden will be running this car for the rest of the season. Travis Braden is running the #51. Honeycutt's pole time was 15:202, and 13th was 16:410. The lady that clocked the only lap time that wasn't under 16 seconds, was named Jessica Cann. This is her second time starting a Pro race with the CARS Tour. The separation between 1st (15:202) & 12th (Lopez 15:528). I broke my own rule and went to FB to try and find out more. I found nothing on his racing page, on why the split. Also, I didn't see anything saying that the Lopez team is out of the Setzer shop. That doesn't mean they're not, I just didn't see anything. Up next, is the start of the Pro feature. Let's Roll Kaden!! Edited August 17 by ron.brown11

Let's Roll Kaden!! There will probably a 14th car, Josh Horniman #43. He had issues with his primary car, so they drove back to their shop and picked up another car. They are trying to get it through tech, as the Pros are already lined up on the front stretch. They are literally putting car number decals on the car as we speak! As there is weather in the area, I don't think that the officials will have a lot of leeway for him. To make matters worse, they had a tire blowout on the trailer coming back to the track. But they are thrashing!! This guy has had nothing but bad luck this season. WOW, even the CARS officials helping push the car through the impounded LMSC cars. And he has made it to the grid!!! ron.brown11
Kaden led the first couple of laps, then dropped back to 4th. On lap 4, Luke Baldwin lost power off of turn 4, and Davis run up under Baldwin. He was also being pushed by Bollman, in a Donnie Wilson car. ron.brown11
Honeycutt is back up to 2nd after 42 laps.
ron.brown11
With 54 laps to go, the yellow is out for a comp caution. Honeycutt has run down the leader, Tristan McKee, who took the lead from Honeycutt on lap 4. So Honeycutt is second, and Davis is till in 8th. He is such a charger, I have to believe that he has some suspension damage. Plus he's missing the left front fender, and that can'r help. ron.brown11
With 9 laps to go, Caden Kvapil took the lead from Honeycutt for the win. Honeycutt was 2nd, Bollman 3rd, 4th was Spencer Davis. and 5th was Jimmy Renfrew Jr. McKee melted his brakes and was a DNF. Carson Kvapil is running the ARCA and Xfinity races in MI, so Caden will run Carson's LMSC car tonight too.. At the comp caution, Kvapil went pit side, saying that he had no brakes. They must have had a magic wand, as he started last, and was just half way down the back stretch, as the field took the green. That was one hell of a drive by him. Honeycutt also has brake issues after taking the lead from McKee. The unofficial points say that Davis & Honeycutt are tied. Honeycutt had Bloomquist's name on his car tonight. He also said that he's really excited to be in the Lopez Racing car for the rest of the season. Up next, the LMSC race, weather permitting.. ron.brown11
WOW, the first 23 laps have been wild! They aren't racing for a 125 laps, they're racing to halfway. There has been a lot of leaning, and moving people. Caution is out, as Dylan Ward looks like he just gernaded an engine, while running about 12th, in a large group of cars. Nobody wrecked. Amazing!! ron.brown11
Well, we've made it to 54 laps to go, so the race is official, and under the comp caution. Bobby McCarty was the pole sitter, led a few laps. But since Ryan Millington took the lead from him, it's been the Millington show. Green flag is back out. ron.brown11
With 44 laps to go, the red flag is out for a medical emergency in the pits. Here's the top 5: Millington, Queen, Hall, Crews & Lapsovich. McCarty was running 3rd, and coming off turn 4 something happened to his car. Conor Hall somehow missed driving underneath him. Great piece of driving!
ron.brown11
Back under yellow, but it's starting to sprinkle. Fingers crossed to get the race completed. The green is back out, but that didn't last long. Blake Stallings, aka Superman, got put into the front stretch wall, and nearly went on his lid. They got 3 wide, with Ronnie Bassett Jr in the middle. He got pushed up into Stallings. Somehow Stallings was able to drive it back to the pits, but Bassett Jr was as lucky. I think it was Mini Tyrell that was on the inside. Stallings took out the speed shot camera under the flag stand. Stallings is a fabricator at R&S Race Cars. He's a regular at South Boston, and weather permitting, he'll be running there on Sat. Edited August 18 by ron.brown11
ron.brown11
In the end, I can say without a doubt, those announcers earned their money tonight. They were both hyperventilating through those final 45 laps. They showed a different video angle on Stallings' crash. The nose of his car got about 6' into the air in that front stretch crash. Right below the flag stand, they have a gap in the wall, for crossing to the pits. He caught that and the whole car went airborne. The announcers thought he'd flipped, because of the angle he hit, and rotated in the air. But he landed on all fours. He said that the chassis is trashed, and that was a brand new car. The CARS Tour LMSC division will race next week at Wake Co. Speedway, a very short and narrow bullring. There are a lot of hurt feeling after this race, and a lot of torn up cars. Hopefully everybody can fix them, and make it back out for it.
ron.brown11
Update on Bobby McCarty from last night. He had an exhaust leak, and parked because of that. He spent some time in the ambulance, getting some oxygen and fluids. He's all good, and at South Boston as a spectator. That's great news.. ron.brown11
Blake Stallings aka Superman, didn't let that huge crash at Ace last night bother him. He just won the opening 75 lap LMSC race at SoBo. They will have another 75 lapper later this evening. Nice recovery!!
ron.brown11
Anybody that wants to see the highlights of Friday night's CARS Tour LMSC race, can do so for free. Go to www.floracing.com, select the headline for the CARS Tour race highlights. It's a little over 13 minutes long, and nearly all of it is the last 45 laps. That's insane stuff!! I saw it live last night, but I had to go back and see it again. I had to make sure in my mind, that it really happened. As massive as Blake Stallings' crash was, it only got about 10 seconds of the highlights. The rest was almost all of the last 45 laps. If this isn't Flo's Race of the Week, I'll be dumbfounded. I realized that I hadn't listed the finishing order. Here it is: 1-5 Crews; Tyrell; Kvapil; Queen & Hall. 6-10: McCumby; Isles Jr; Robusto; Lapsovich & Connor Jones. 24nomo
The Cars Tour Never disappoints. Always great action. On the other side, ARCA is the most boring races to watch. Arca has about 2 or 3 rich kids racing against old men in junk. LOL
ron.brown11
I agree, ARCA only has 3 teams that can win, without some extraordinary circumstances. The winners come from Venturini, Gibbs (Toyota teams), or the #28 (Chevy) team that Conor Zilich drives for. It is a "buy a ride" series, and that's a shame. ARCA didn't use to be that way, and unless a team has some sort of affiliation with a Cup team, you're stuck with mid pack or worse equipment. Andy Hillinburg and his wife, own the most cars in ARCA's national series, but they're junk castoffs. It's turned into a manufacturer driver development program. There was a time where ARCA & USAC Stocks were a direct competitors to NASCAR. USAC's Stocks championship points funds used to be better than NASCAR's was. The USAC stocks were a strong division, and it wasn't uncommon to have a third to half of the field be Indy 500 stars. Too bad they went away. ron.brown11
I was right. The LMSC race is the FloRacing race of the week.
