Saturday set the fields, now it was time settle it out on the liquid quarter mile and who makes the right adjustments during the day as conditions change. Change they did. About 15-20* temperature swing, especially during the early hours. Then, from what I learned, the density altitude changed almost 2050 making it a potential tuners nightmare. Plus the wind direction switched to nearly a full tail win. Top qualifiers from Saturday were Mike Robbins(Top Fuel Hydro), Marty Logan(Top Alcohol Hydro), Marcus Kinsey(Top Alcohol Flat), Jeff Leuhring(Pro Competition Flat), Cody Childress(Pro Outlaw), Mallori Carroll(Pro Modified), Pat Hobbs(Pro Jet), Gavin Snider(Pro Eliminator)**changed to Quick Eliminator, Robert Anderson(Quick Eliminator), Matt Miller(Top Eliminator), Seth Walls(Modified Eliminator), Justin Stuard(Stock Eliminator) and Brandon Lempar(Personal Water Craft) Top Fuel Hydro Mike Robbins made a competitive run much the pleasure of the crowd who waited until the end. Mike Robbins(Nitro Nuts) 3.245 @ 206.781 After days of thrashing the Kebin Kinsley crew got the boat assembled to make an initial hit. Kinsley burped it about mid-course then ran it out. Kebin Kinsley(Liquid Voodoo) 8.773 @ 97.872 Top Alcohol Hydro Marty Logan was the only Top Alcohol Hydro on the grounds and used the cooler early morning temperatures for a potential shot at a speed record. Logan, however, fell a little short of the 209mph record. Marty Logan(Livin' tha Dream) 4.304 @ 205.484 Top Alcohol Flat Getting another solo run was Marcus Kinsey in the Top Alcohol Flat class and Kinsey ran it through. Marcus Kinsey(Bad Company) 6.134 @ 123. 201 Pro Outlaw(5.20) Cody Childress ran out from the number one spot in Pro Outlaw to meet Bill Wier in the finals. Childress got a tenth on the start and used that advantage to score the holeshot victory over Wier Cody Childress(Bad Influence) 5.335 @ 164.072 defeats Bill Wier 5.292 @ 175.629 Childress sent Gus Ward home while Wier took down Steve Carter. Pro Modified(5.60) When the field of ten was paired down in Pro Modified it was Henry Behne meeting up with Jay Hudgins in the finals. Hudgins caught Behne blinking at the light getting almost a quarter of a second. Behne would run the index, but lose to Hudgins on a holeshot. Jay Hudgins(Aquaholic) 5.642 @ 158.865 defeats Henry Behne(Dont Blink) 5.608 @ 154.924 Hudgins got past Greg Lempar and Lee Warren with a round 3 bye. Behne trailered Mallori Carroll, Daryl Erhlich and Steve Walls. Pro Competition Flat It was a #1 vs #2 seed in the Pro Competition Flat finals between Jeff Leuhring(Nasty Rumors) and Tim Ortiz(Never Satisfied). Leuhring went .043 red handing the victory to Ortiz who savored the win in a pedestrian run. Tim Ortiz, 17.757 @ 47.043 defeats Jeff Leuhring 5.890 @ 135.177(red light) Leuhring took out Vic Fugate and Cole Henrich while Ortiz bested Kevin Hibdon and Larry Skero Pro Jet Only two Pro Jets so it was an instant final between Pat Hobbs and Richard Ledbetter. Hobbs took the easy victory over Ledbetter Pat Hobbs(Manufactured Money) 4.616 @ 137.627 defeats Richard Ledbetter(The Honey Badger) 8.114 @ 57.196 Quick Eliminator(6.00) The finals in Quick Eliminator came down to top qualifier Robert Anderson and Gavin Snider, who moved from Pro Eliminator to Quick Eliminator. Both had nearly identical lights, but Anderson was able to run near the index for the close win. Robert Anderson(Mutual Funds) 6.029 @ 123.290 defeats Gavin Snider(6 to Midnight) 6.256 @ 139.679 Top Eliminator(7.00) Top qualifier Jerry Branum squared off with Ashley Winslett, who got her license passes done on Saturday, in her first Top Eliminator finals. Branum got 3/100th on the start then outran Winslett to take the victory. Jerry Branum(Back in Black) 7.078 @ 114.381 defeats Ashley Winslett(Vanishing Breed) 7.243 @ 114.452 Modified Eliminator(8.00) Modified Eliminator finals was supposed to be Andrew Decker against Seth Walls. Decker got a huge gift with a competition bye in the finals when Walls broke in the previous round. Andrew Decker(N-2 Deep) 7.843 @ 101.073 defeats Seth Walls(Happy Hour) DNR Stock Eliminator(Dial in) Stock Eliminator saw Doug Fox paired off with Steven Russell for the finals. Fox got a huge jump on the tree by about 1/3 of a second and grabbed the holeshot win. Doug Fox(Worst Case Scenario) 9.369 @ 77.536 defeats Steven Russell(Hairy Canary) 9.317 @ 75.940 Personal Water Craft(Dial in) The PWC finals had Jacob Nodler spot Shelby Hudgins two seconds on the start. Nodler was able to catch her and not break out for the victory. Jacob Nodler(Long Time Comin') 12.699 @ 5.6742 defeats Shelby Hudgins(Catch me If You Can) 14.903 @ 49.420 Quote
