ROCKET RACEWAY PARK SET FOR 2022 CAMPAIGN

PETTY, Texas (Dec. 20)—New ownership has taken over the Rocket Raceway Park. The Petty, Texas, dirt oval formerly known as 82 Speedway will see new branding and an exciting mix of events for the 2022 season.

The management team of Kevin Sustaire and Kevin Rogers will take the reins at the Rocket Raceway Park. After spending the last three seasons at the RPM Speedway - Texas, the duo intends to capitalize on their prior experiences.

“We are excited about the opportunity to continue promoting weekly racing in Texas,” Sustaire said. “We feel like we have gained a lot of experience over the past few years and are excited for the new venture.”

“The opportunity to challenge ourselves and provide quality weekly racing events was another enticing characteristic of the Rocket Raceway Park,” Rogers added. “I am excited to get to work.”

For the 2022 season, the Rocket Raceway Park will see five competitive divisions of weekly racing action.

Slated for the upcoming campaign will be the USRA - United States Racing Association Modifieds, Stock Cars, Limited Mods and Factory Stocks, plus Eco-Mods and Trooper Cruisers.

The USRA Modified division will join the card on a bi-weekly basis. They will compete for the Rocket Challenge in 2022 and alternate weekends with the Superbowl Speedway in Greenville.

There will be two new divisions added to the 2022 schedule as well as the USRA Stock Cars and newly-formed Trooper Cruiser divisions will compete on Saturday nights.

“The USRA Stock Car division is one of the most competitive divisions in all of motorsports, Sustaire said. “We are excited to bring them in for the 2022 season.”

The Trooper Cruisers will be competing weekly at the Rocket Raceway Park.

“The guys at Big O Speedway and XR have the same division. This seems like a positive direction for an affordable class of race car for folks to get into. I am excited to see how this class grows throughout the season,” Rogers said.

In addition to the changes to the Rocket Raceway Park, the KR Promotions LLC Cup will once again join the Kevin and Kevin Show at the Petty, Texas, speedplant.

“I am excited to bring the KR Cup to Lamar County. Weekly racing will be contested for the opportunity to win the KR Cup Championship,” Rogers noted.

Race On Texas will be joining the track’s network as well.

“The entire crew over at RaceOnTexas is top notch. They have been with us since 2015 and we are excited to continue our relationship with them.”

In 2022, the Rocket Raceway Park will play host to several special events too.

The high-powered USMTS - United States Modified Touring Series Modifieds will invade Rocket Raceway Park on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, March 3-5, for the 12th Annual Texas Spring Nationals. The Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series national tour will compete Friday, July 8, and the USRA American Racer Modified Series will join the card on Saturday, Sept. 3rd and return for the ARMS Nationals on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Nov. 3-5. Finally, The NOW600 Racing National Series will conclude the 2022 season at the Rocket Raceway Park on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Nov. 10-12.

“We are working on a few Sprint Car and Late Model shows as well for this season,” Sustaire said. “Details are being finalized and should be posted in the next few days.”

“It is going to be a challenging and exciting season for us, the drivers, crews, partners and fans for the Rocket Raceway Park,” Rogers revealed. “Sustaire and I have been burning the candle at both ends this short offseason finalizing the details and are ready to get started.”

A new website is being finalized at RocketRacewayPark.com and should be available soon.
