something needs to be done to prevent that electric pump from continuing to pump fuel!! I know lots of rules require shut offs and most are oil pressure contolled.i heard this was a sliced line? I'd be curious to learn how this happened if true, or if it was simply a clamp left loose or something. either way not sure what can be done, I'm glad the driver was unharmed and luckily that one ended "ok" could have been really bad! also there was a comment that the race control was telling him to stop on his raceiever with no response from the driver.

which brings up another issue, another racer and I had a conversation about tracks requiring raceievers and we hear in driver meetings they are mandatory. this is extremely hard to enforce and you always have 1 or 2 that are driving around under caution obviously with no raceiver or dead batteries! if this driver had a working raceiver they could of had him stopped probably 5-10 seconds earlier which could be a matter of life or serious injury.

just my 2 cents , but probably more questions than answers

My understanding is that the fuel cell was compromised by heat from the exhaust system and a hole developed in the gas tank.  Really had zero to do with a shut-off system according to the parent of the driver involved.

i was told the plate built to cover the plastic tank a  car has to have if it is plastic   cut a line or rubbed a hole .. coming from someone who races in that class .. .lucky the driver wasnt hurt ..

Interesting....Not going to disagree, BUT....fuel still appeared to be coming out even after it was turned over.
