sprintsrule
Why is a race dropped?
NickHolt
Hmmmmm … I have no idea why unless it's in the rules or something like that. I'd probably ask Steve Jung that question.

TRACK standings are based on driver’s total cumulative points at that track. Drivers are allowed to drop one race per season. You CANNOT drop a disqualification or a race you are suspended from. Those with a drop probably ran every race? Looking at the points I am not sure how that works, That's off the website Edited October 11, 2019 by Ford27
Steve
If you raced all the races you drop the lowest point night. The drivers with a drop raced all the races. IMCA Modified use the IMCA Rules. No Drop, No Double Points. You can not drop a disqualification or a suspension. I-37 Speedway used these rules for the last 3 years. arob
Interesting. So the team that shows up every race night gets points taken away for it.
sprintsrule
So if a driver races all of the races, they have points taken away? If a driver misses a race, they keep all of their points? Edited October 17, 2019 by sprintsrule

Why would you want to throw away points? Isn't the objective to get as many points as possible?
rebelracewriter
Quote Why would you want to throw away points? Isn't the objective to get as many points as possible? Chip, It's been that way for several years. Everyone knows the rule going in, no surprises. The benefit is that it gives someone that blows up/breaks in hot laps/heats a chance to stay in the points chase since no "show up" points are given. Not saying that I'm in agreement with it, but it is what it is. They are talking about doing away with the rule next season.
