USRA Texas Motor Speedway Race Policies

San Antonio, Texas (May 9, 2005) – The United States Racing Association (USRA-TX) announces the following provisions for the series race at Texas Motor Speedway on June 11, 2005.

The United States Racing Association has made the decision to allow the NASCAR Elite Series cars into competition after a request from Texas Motor Speedway. The announcement comes after consulting with officials from the NASCAR Elite series, Five Star Racecar Bodies, ARP Racing Bodies, USRA drivers, team owners with the following provisions.

The Elite cars must adhere to the following policies in the interest of competition.

1. All Elite cars must fit the ABC body templates.

2. Only 2004 or newer Elite bodies will be allowed.

3. All Elite Perimeter cars require an additional 25 pounds of weight.

Due to contractual obligations all cars must use the USRA stamped American Racer tire.

Also announced by series officials is a provisional starting policy for the Texas Motor Speedway race. The provisional system will be based on the following; any driver that makes a qualifying attempt and has competed in any combination of 3 of the USRA Super Late Model series’ first 5 races will be guaranteed an automatic provisional starting position. If a driver took a time trial lap at the postponed Houston Motorsports Park event on March 13, 2005 that will count towards one of the 3 required races. The maximum number of cars that the series will start is 36. The remainder of the minor rules will be released by the series on Wednesday, May 11, 2005.

The drivers and teams have two additional opportunities to compete with the USRA Super Late Model Series before the Texas Motor Speedway event. The next race event is May, 14, 2005 at Corpus Christi Motor Speedway in Corpus Christi, Texas. Houston Motor Sports Park in Houston, Texas will host the United States Racing Association on May 28, 2005.
