Several other activities have been planned to recognize the moms in the grandstands on Saturday night, including a contest for the oldest mom, the youngest mom and the mother with the most children at the speedway. All fans and drivers are encouraged to invite their moms, stepmothers, grandmothers, and any other special person they may want to recognize on Saturday night. Debbie Williams, Media & Marketing Specialist at SAS, feels the support of her mom has played an important role in their racing family. "I've seen my mom sit in the grandstands to watch her son and grandsons race for over 25 years," commented Williams. "At first it was very difficult for her to adjust to the speed and risks involved with racing, but she's more seasoned now and doesn't get quite as nervous. She's very proud of her racing family and she's an extremely loyal supporter," added Williams. In addition to the grandstand activities, each driver who signs in at the pit gate on Saturday night will be given a free pass for his or her mother to attend the races on Saturday night. Terry Dickerson, president of the United States Racing Association (USRA) Track Management Group, feels it's important for the drivers to recognize their moms for the significant role they play in their lives. "Behind every race car driver is a mom who cares about them and is proud to support them," stated Dickerson. "We'd like to help them honor their moms on Saturday night." Grandstand gates will open at 5:00 p.m., opening ceremonies begin at 7:15 p.m., and the first green flag will wave promptly at 7:30 p.m. San Antonio Speedway is a half-mile NASCAR-sanctioned oval asphalt track that is located at 14901 State Highway 16 South (Poteet Highway), about 3.5 miles south (outside) of Loop 410. The speedway can be accessed easily by taking IH 35 South and exiting on Highway 16 South (left exit), just past South Park Mall. The race hotline number is (210) 628-1867, and the speedway's website can be found at http://www.sanantoniospeedway.com.
