abrungot Posted April 26, 2005 Report Posted April 26, 2005 The Junior Racers of America (JRA Kids Club) staff has their final preparations under way for the first of five children's bike races this Saturday April 30th at Thunder Hill Raceway. Thunder Hill Raceway Marketing and PR Director Jon Sagester has offered "Any Child Age four to sixteen bringing a bike and helmet to participate in the race, will get in free." Children will complete in four different age groups 4 to 6 year old, 7 to 9 year old, 10 to 12 year old, and lastly 13 to 16 year olds. All of which will have to travel a different distance around the high banked 3/8 mile oval. In previous years there have always been children’s bike races at Thunder Hill Raceway, this years bike races are especially exciting. Members of the JRA Kids Club will not be racing just for a ribbon or trophy, but a season point’s fund. The season points fund is currently set at $2,600 in U.S. Savings bonds, and will be divided up among the top eight children in each age bracket. "I can't thank our sponsors enough for their contributions this season." Stated Club co-founder Aaron Brungot. There are many local businesses that have stepped up to help enrich the racing experience in central Texas. Checkered Flag Collectables, and Pedal Power out of San Marcos, both have combined efforts to give trophies for the evening’s events. A special thank you goes to Gatti's Pizza/Gatti-town, they have offered a discount coupon package worth $155 for the Kids club to sell. Proceeds will be deposited into the Season Points Fund for the bike races.
