tqj3 Posted April 25, 2005 Report Posted April 25, 2005 (edited) Release: April 24, 2005 Eventful Race Night Results in Familiar Finish for Boerne's Knudtson in Viking Racing Camaro at San Antonio Speedway San Antonio – Eric Knudtson of Boerne finished third in the first points race of the season in the Sportsman class at San Antonio Speedway, fighting a bad "push" in the car. Saturday night, in a repaired Viking Racing Chevrolet Camaro, he got the same result but with a lot more drama, as two spins and some defensive driving from the eventual second-place car made him work hard for another third place behind eventual winner Tator Mason. One spin came in the heat race, and Knudtson ran afoul of an apparent new rule in heat races: one solo spin and you're off the track. As a result, he started the feature in seventh spot, but by the 11th lap was pressing Mason and, as he tried to pass, spun again. This one only got Knudtson sent to the rear of the field, but in five laps he was back in third. Unfortunately he was blocked from moving any further forward and he and first race winner Greg Rohmer had to settle for third and fourth behind Mason, who had been second two weeks ago. "I had said the championship would probably be a three-car race among the three of us (Knudtson, Rohmer and Mason)," Knudtson said after the race. "It's still that way, as my calculations show we should still be one-two-three in the points, but with the numbers tightened up a little. Next week should be fun, even though I'm going to be a little busier." Knudtson will do "double duty" next weekend, running his Viking Racing Camaro in Sportsman and his Viking Racing Chevrolet Monte Carlo in the just-announced first annual "Spring Fling 75" late model race at SAS on Saturday, April 30. ### T.
