either that or just let fox do the whole year...........i like fox better than nbc (nothing but commercials)anyway.............it would make more sense to do it with fox all year that way they dont miss out on the nascar fans who dont have cable............that would be the only downside to having it on espn like before.....there are still people out there without cable for one reason or another and the way nascar has grown since the espn days it wouldnt be smart to exclude people without cable.............jmo

as much as I like the FOX idea, they have NFC foorball in what would be the second half of the year. CBS might be an option as well. Although when NASCAR went to FOX many of the folks that make that team up came from CBS.

I'm sure if NBC backs out, Disney and CBS will be all over NASCAR possibilities.

With Monday Night Football going to ESPN, maybe we could get some Monday Night Busch. After a hard day @ work, come home, eat dinner, get you some Monday Night Busch. I think it would be pretty cool. Plus, NASCAR would get their night races without screwing with local tracks on Saturday Nights.

Oh yeah, Monday Night trucks would be cool too.

Play on words ?????????? :o

I don't know about y'all but I'm honestly talking about seeing some Busch on Monday nights. I think it would be good for racing. People would find themselves saying, "Well, nothing else is on, maybe I'll check out some Busch". And, IF local tracks could get some air time, they could put themselves in the middle of the Busch so that they would be seen as well.

Just to add..

Terry Blount is recognized nation-wide as one of the premier NASCAR columnists. He's also the Chairman of the Board of Voters for the Texas Motorsports Hall of Fame, and he's one of the prime reasons the Texas Motorsports Hall of Fame exists.

He's a good friend of mine, a good friend to all who like motorsports, and an all-around good guy.

I did some research on NFL.com

It revealed the following NFL statement last week:

"The agreement with NBC is for six seasons from 2006 through 2011 for an annual package of 17 regular-season games consisting of 16 Sunday night games and the Thursday night season-opener (NFL Kickoff), two playoff games on Wild Card Weekend, and three prime-time preseason games".

This would seem to mean that if NBC keeps it's rights to half of the NASCAR Nextel Cup season, it won't have a problem televising Saturday night or Sunday afternoon cup races and doing Sunday night football also.

I think a leading question here is - can NBC afford the TV rights to both NFL and NASCAR? Part of that answer is: FOX affords both NFL and NASCAR, why not NBC too?

Hank Williams, Jr. "ARE YOU READY FOR SOME BUSCH?"

I was thinking more along the lines of "Are you ready for some RACIIIIIINN", but we could go with Busch too :D

I'm sure the NFL package won't effect Nascar in the least.Nascar is on a move towards all Prime Time events anyway.Friday and Saturday. The loser in all of this could possibly be the local short tracks,if the new NFL deal pushes more racing to Saturday night.I for one always dvr the races and hit the track, but I know alot of people that won't do that.

BIG SCREEN TV'S AT THE SHORT TRACKS?....that was prolly waayy out there. :D

Busch on Mondays wouldn't work. Many people have a hard enough time getting off work to go to the races on Saturday and Sunday, much less on Monday. Thats why there are always so many empty seats on postponed races to monday...

"...A Monday Night party...

...we'll get Jeff & Dale & Greg & get the party started...

...the weather's nice, we got the beer on ice...

...sit on down for some Busch on Monday Nights!"

( Maybe I oughta stick to racing & my day job!)
