SAN ANTONIO SPEEDWAY ANNOUNCES

FIRST ANNUAL "SPRING FLING 75" LATE MODEL RACE

San Antonio, TX (April 20, 2005) - San Antonio Speedway (SAS) is gearing up for a special NASCAR Late Model Race on Saturday, April 30, starting at 7:27 p.m. Late Model drivers throughout the state are invited to participate in the First Annual "Spring Fling 75" race.

"We know lots of drivers out there who are interested in competing in the Late Model class at San Antonio Speedway, and we're offering them a personal invitation to race at our track," states Terry Barden, General Manager at SAS.

The initial plans for the race include a $1,500 award to the race winner, along with a minimum $250 payout just to start the race. "The minimum payout will cover the $185 NASCAR license fee required for all SAS competitors and still give the drivers something to take home," says Barden. Once the initial licensing fee has been paid, the driver can compete at SAS anytime during the 2005 season for just $20 a race. In addition, NASCAR licensed drivers may compete in any NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series race anywhere across the country. Drivers can also claim NASCAR experience with their potential sponsors.

Licensed drivers will compete in the 75-lap race, which will be scored as a NASCAR-sanctioned points' race. Making this race a sanctioned event will help the NASCAR Late Model drivers pick up some valuable points in the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series competitions against fellow drivers all over the nation. Drivers will be given the opportunity to use the results from the best 16 races of the season, and this additional race will offer them a chance to improve their overall performance.

Also competing at San Antonio Speedway on April 30 will be the fast and exciting Texas Asphalt Modified Series (TAMS), along with the NASCAR Sportsman, Road Runner and Women on Wheels classes.

To check out these drivers and their fellow competitors, join the live NASCAR racing action at San Antonio Speedway on most Saturday nights from April through September. Grandstand gates will open at 5:00 p.m., with opening ceremonies scheduled for 7:15 p.m. The first green flag will wave at 7:27 p.m.

San Antonio Speedway is a half-mile NASCAR-sanctioned oval asphalt track that is located at 14901 State Highway 16 South (Poteet Highway), about 3.5 miles outside of Loop 410. The speedway can be accessed easily by taking IH 35 South and exiting on Highway 16 South (left exit), just past South Park Mall. The race hotline number is (210) 628-1867, and the track's website can be found at San Antonio Speedway.
