BobbyChaffee Posted April 13, 2005 Report Posted April 13, 2005 (edited) The south Texas dirt racing action is heating up once again. I-37 Speedway in Pleasanton, Texas held its second night of point for the track regular 2005 racing season. Five racing classes came to the speedway in search of victory. The heat racing provided some of the best action at the speedway. Limited Late Models Heat 1 13 – Howie Marx 17 – Ed Foryste 86 – Sam Smith 39 – Miguel Mendoza Heat 2 48 – MK Wallace 14 – Gary Hunter 12 – Carl Dyer Pure Stock Heat 1 11 – Chris McClendon 48 – Tom Williams 67 – Alan Torres 47 – Big John 76x – Rusty Henley Heat 2 66 – Gale Rose 74 – n/a 48A – n/a 17 - Adler 76 – n/a IMCA Sport Mod Heat 1 02 – Robert Williams 56 – Jeffrey Walker 39 – Derrick Flora Street Stock Heat 1 79 – Randy Guzman 11 – David Boggs 48A – MK Wallace 57 – Jason Kelly 18 – Shawn Moore 48 – Robert Williams Heat 2 67 – Charlie Henley 74 – Johnny Torres 51 – Don Lewis 33 – Bill Boatwright 79X – n/a IMCA Modifieds Heat 1 25 – Bobby Grobe 97 – Joe Barnec 00 – James Schach 35 - Curt Clegg 91 – George Fink 22 – Marlin Samford Heat 2 9 – Brandon Baylock 7 – Lawrence Mikulencak 55 – Danny Brown 8G – Greg Dinsmore 37 – Bill Pittaway 1 – Jeremy Davenport Heat 3 707 – PJ Egbert 89 – Steven Whiteaker, Jr 174 – Mickey Helms 57 – Dale Flanagan 17 – Adam Arambula 420 – Shawn Obanon The main events for the night action were just as competitive and entertaining to watch as the heat races. Multiple drivers in each class had a chance to win the main events for there respective classes. Limited Late Models Main 48 - Wallace 86 - Smith 13 - Marcx 14 - Hunter 12 - Dyer 17 - Foryste 39 –DNS – Mendoza The IMCA Sport mod class may have had the fewest amount of cars for the main event but that did not keep the action from being some of the most enjoyable and entertaining racing for the night. The action included multiple spins, plenty of side by side action and good solid racing. IMCA Sport Mod Main 56 - Walker 39 - Flora 02 – Williams The pure stock race also had some of the best racing action. The class continues to grow in size and popularity. Many cars are under construction for this class. These cars are the same type of cars that can be run in multiple tracks across south Texas. This race like all the other involved side by side racing, contact, and a ton of aggressive driving. It is somewhat of a rookie class so that tends to happen. Pure Stock Main 79x – James Starry 74 - Torres 67 – Torres 79 – n/a 76x – n/a 17 - Adler 48A – n/a 47 – Big John 66 - Rose 76 – n/a 48 – n/a 11 – Mclendon The street stock race was one of the more competitive races of the night. The lead of the race changed hands a couple of times and the battle for second on back was worth the price of admission alone. The battle really heated up when the 11 car of Boggs broke while leading coming out of turn four. Don Lewis took the win in his #51 purple machine. Street Stock Main 51- Lewis 67 – C. Henley 79 - Guzman 74 - Torres 57 - Kelly 18 - Moore 48A - Wallace 11 - Boggs 26 - Leonard 33 – Boatwright 48 – Williams The IMCA Modified show was a great race as usual. It closed out the racing night at the speedway. The race was filled with caution flags. Many of the cautions were do to spin out by the drivers. The lead of the race was a place that would prove to be bad luck. P J Egbert in the 707 car pulled off track while leading and loaded the car on the trailer. The 89 car of Steven Whiteaker Jr appeared to lose the entire left front wheel assembly coming out of turn two. South Texas racing legend Lawrence Miklencak would take home the victory. The 9 car of Brandon Baylock would fight back from an early race spin and come home second.
