Canadian Tire Motorsports Park Race Notes:

Austin Wayne Self, driver of the No.22 Go Texan/Bucee’s Toyota, started the action packed weekend off with an engine change following Final Practice on Saturday afternoon. Forced to start in the rear of the field for Sunday’s Silverado 250, the team took advantage of some extra practice during Qualifying.

AWS had one goal – keep the No. 22 Go Texan/Bucee’s Toyota out of trouble. Crew Chief Rick Ren made a good call on Lap 7 to keep the Rookie driver out, allowing him to gain valuable track position. Throughout the remainder of the race, Austin battled a strong field of trucks, but was able to remain in the Top 15 for most of the day, reaching as high as 2nd place at one point.

Just as the laps were winding down, and AWS was holding on to a solid Top 10 finish, a blown right rear tire caused the team to have to pit late in the running. Restarting 29th. Self fought to gain seventeen positions in two laps, moving him into 12th, before an on-track incident led to another blown tire, coming out of Turn 10 on the Final Lap. Despite the set back, Austin was able to maintain control of the No. 22 Toyota, with only three good tires and come home with another Top 15 finish.

Canadian Tire Motorsport Park Post Race Quote:

“I am really proud of my entire No. 22 AM Racing team. We continue to fight every week to get my Toyota Tundra handling the way it should be on track. We’ve had some decent finishes the past couple weeks, but we’re fighting against some bad luck. I think I would have been able to get the best finish of the year, if it wasn’t for the blown tire. We’ll continue to learn, and move on to Chicagoland in a couple weeks." -

Next up on the NCWTS schedule is race No. 16 of 23 - The American Ethanol 225 from Chicagoland Speedway on Friday, September 16 at 8:30 P.M. All times Eastern Standard Time.
