San Antonio Speedway's Policy for Minors in the Pits

After several lengthy discussions with the insurance carrier for San Antonio Speedway (SAS), the United States Racing Association (USRA-TX) Track Management Group has declared that minors under the age of 14 will not be allowed in the pits for this weekend's race at SAS (April 1-2).

The policy must be strictly enforced to maintain the current insurance carrier at SAS, no matter how inconvenient it is for the race teams. "It's our responsibility to keep the speedway operating in a proper and safe manner. We owe it to our children to make sure we're doing everything to protect them," stated Terry Dickerson, President of the USRA Track Management Group.

Minor Release Forms will be available at SAS throughout the weekend for children who are ages 14-17, both at Friday evening's practice session and during all of the race events on Saturday. The Minor Release Form must be signed by a parent or legal guardian in the presence of a notary public. A notary public will be available at the pit gate this weekend for everyone’s convenience.

Anyone with children ages 14-17 who plans to attend future events at San Antonio Speedway should pick up a blank release form at the pit gate. The form will need to be signed and notarized prior to the event, and it will be kept on file at the speedway office.

Information about Saturday’s events can be found at the track’s web site at San Antonio Speedway or by calling the track’s hotline at (210) 628-1499. Information about USRA can be found at USRA or Texas Speedzone.
