Delbert Smith Tames NCRA Late Models on the Belleville High Banks!

Belleville, Kansas – August 27, 2016 - Veteran Delbert Smith survived a late race caution to claim his second National Championship Racing Association of Park City, Kansas presented by Precise Racing Products crate late model feature victory of the season Saturday night atop the famed Belleville High Banks Speedway in Belleville, Kansas.

Current point leader Chris Kratzer started on the pole and out ran outside front row starter Rob Day into turn one to take the lead as the green flag fell. Smith, who started third, would pass Kratzer for the lead coming out of turn two on lap three and held the advantage until a late race caution with five laps to go slowed the pace.

On the final restart, Smith held off a challenge from sixth starting Dusty Leonard and would go on to claim his fourteenth career NCRA late model victory. Day would get back around Leonard at the start/finish line to claim the runner up position by a foot. Dan Smith and Jimmy Segraves rounded out the top five.

Heat race winners were Day and Dan Smith.

The next event for the NCRA crate late model division will be next Labor Day weekend Saturday night, September 3, at 81 Speedway in Park City.
