Ironman 55 Just One Week Away - Series returns for the Ironman weekend at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55

PEVELY, Mo. - July 29, 2016 - In just one week, the stars of the World of Outlaws Craftsman® Sprint Car Series will be challenged to prove their skills in one of the season's biggest tests of will and strength, the Ironman 55 at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55.

The two-day weekend destination event kicks off on Friday, Aug. 5 with the Prelude to the Ironman and concludes on Saturday, Aug. 6 with the $20,000-to-win Ironman 55.

The challenge of 55 laps around the high-bank, 1/3-mile bullring in Pevely, Mo. is borne out in the array of winners over the last three seasons. In seven series events at the track since 2013, there have been seven different winners.

Just one driver has ever repeated at the Ironman 55 - 'The Crowd Pleaser' Craig Dollansky who took home the coveted dumbbell trophy three consecutive years, from 2011 to 2013.

Joey Saldana won the inaugural event in 2009, with two-time series champion Jason Meyers taking home the win in 2010, Kerry Madsen in 2014 and Shane Stewart in 2015.

For Madsen and Stewart, their wins over the last two seasons came with another big win during the 'Month of Money' - the Kings Royal.

"It feels bloody awesome! I can't believe it! This is one of the races you want to win," Madsen said that night in victory lane as he celebrated with his Keneric Racing team.

Stewart had a similar exclamation as climbed from his car in 2015, "It feels darn good!"

This season, if the trend is to continue, Donny Schatz, who has yet to win an Ironman title, would have to prove his strength and prowess and power to the win.

Don't miss your chance to see the Outlaws battle it out in the rough and tumble, sprint car coliseum that is Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55. Tickets start at $32 with kids 12 and under admitted for free to the general admission section. To learn more about the event and to purchase tickets, visit, WoOSprint.com/Ironman-55.
