USAC Midgets Kick Off Big Week with Tuesday Night Thunder!

Lonnie Wheatley, FAIRBURY, Neb. (July 29, 2016) – The 1/5-mile Jefferson County Speedway clay oval at the fairgrounds in Fairbury, NE, has never seen the likes of it. And it’s almost time.

The nation’s top Midget race car drivers will converge upon the small town and racy little track in south central Nebraska for some “Tuesday Night Thunder” that kicks off a blockbuster week of USAC National Midget action in the nation’s heartland.

The Tuesday night, August 2, “Riverside Chevrolet Tuesday Night Thunder presented by Fairbury Foods and Schmidt’s Sanitation” event lifts the lid on a high octane week of competition that continues on Wednesday night with the “Chad McDaniel Memorial” at the Solomon County Raceway in Beloit, KS, before moving on the High Banks on Friday and Saturday for the famed Belleville Midget Nationals.

Joining in on Tuesday’s USAC Midget debut at Fairbury’s Jefferson County Speedway will be the JayHusker non-wing Micro Sprint Cars.

While Indy 500 competitor Bryan Clauson, past USAC National Sprint Car champion Brady Bacon, Zach Daum and the Keith Kunz stable of racers lead the USAC contingent into “Tuesday Night Thunder”, Keith Rauch leads the Rocky Mountain Midget Racing Association forces into Nebraska.

Tanner Thorson is atop the USAC Midget win charts thus far in 2016 with a pair of wins, but it’s Keith Kunz Racing teammate Spencer Bayston currently holding a ten-point edge over Clauson in the series championship battle with Bacon, Thorson and Chad Boat also among the current top five.

Action will be lively on the “Tuesday Night Thunder” card with event promoter Cody Brewer assuring contingency products and gift certificates to each racing entry that takes part thanks to the generous support of the community and the racing industry.

General admission tickets to the event are just $20 for adults with children ten and under admitted free when accompanied by an adult.

Qualifying will begin at 7:00 p.m. with racing action to follow at 7:30 p.m.

Along with title sponsor Riverside Chevrolet and presenting sponsors Fairbury Foods and Schmidt’s Sanitation, other sponsors that are making “Tuesday Night Thunder” possible include Budweiser, ZFour Trucking, Starr Plumbing, Big Bamboo Studios, Pollman Appliances, Vaughn Contracting, Rod End Supply, Precise Racing, EMI, Factor 1 Racing, Keizer Wheels, Schoenfeld Headers, Napa Auto Parts, Fairbury Chamber of Commerce, Ole Red 99.5, Chapple Roofing and Spike Chassis.
