Vikre doubles-up at Central Texas Speedway A-Line DCRST event

Recommended Posts

Kyle, TX (July 10, 2016) - It is no secret that Arden Vikre (72) is the heart and soul of the A-LINE DCRST Dwarf Car Series.

Along with being a competitor “Papa Arden” oversees all aspects of the club's operations and is also the one who works, overhauls and helps maintain many of the cars in the series. It goes without saying that when Vikre swept the heat and main event Saturday at Central Texas Speedway his fellow competitors were all smiling.

The San Marcos, TX driver quickly took the early race lead in the 25 lap main event and never looked back en route to his first feature race win of 2016. As the race started a lap 2 crash seriously damaged the #25 machine of Dylan Budnik as he made hard contact with the front stretch retaining wall, once the action resumed it was Vikre and James Fitzgerald (6) leading the field as the action continued behind them. A late race caution with 3 laps remaining bunched the field up for a late race run.

On the restart 3rd place runner Rodney Rodriguez (4) lost the grip on the exit of turn 2 eliminating himself and the cars of Ty Paxson (15) and Butch Havelka (27).

On the restart it was Vikre holding on over Fitzgerald with Chris Silvas (85), Kevin Hubbard (3) and Dwain Groff (88/14) rounding out the top 5.

Audra Pitcock and Farmers Insurance awarded a $100.00 “Hard Charger Award” which was collected by Hubbard; Mike Paxson and Moore Electric awarded a $100.00 “Electric Lap of the Race” award for fast time in the main event to Jerry Young (18) for his 16.882 second lap.

Lyle Bonnet (16) and Young picked up heat race wins as well.

Next up for DCRST is a trip back to the dirt at South Texas Speedway on July 23rd.

Point leader Rusty Young did not compete in the CTS race and many point contenders struggled so the A-LINE DCRST point standings have tightened up tremendously. Updated standings and results along with additional series information may be found at www.DCRST.com and series sponsor A-Line Auto Parts information is available at www.ALINEAUTO.com.
