DCRP Championship Chases Heat Up on Saturday

Lonnie Wheatley, DODGE CITY, Kan. (April 19, 2016) The 2016 championship chases at Dodge City Raceway Park pick back up in grand fashion with a full card of action slated for this Saturday night atop the 3/8-mile clay oval in southwest Kansas.

Saturdays tilt that goes green at 7:30 p.m. includes a full slate of Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Cars, IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sport Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars and IMCA Hobby Stocks.

Thus far, action at DCRP has yielded nine different feature winners in as many feature events through the opening pair of events with Brian Herbert, Nick Link, Jeff Kaup, Tyler Tipton and Matt OHair out to early point leads.

After winning the season opening Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Car event on April 2, Dodge Citys Brian Herbert is a mere two points ahead of reigning track champion Luke Cranston in a tightly-bunched points race that has the top seven ranked drivers separated by just 15 points.

While Herbert holds a slight edge over Cranston going into DCRP Sprint Car night number three of the year, others right in the mix include Taylor Velasquez, Steven Richardson, Tyler Knight, Mike Peters and Zach Blurton with Tracey Hill, Kris Moore and Koby Walters also among the early top ten.

With runner-up finishes in the opening pair of events, Nick Link is out to an early 20-point advantage over Ryan Heger in his pursuit of the IMCA Modified track title with Mike Lunow, Joel Lunow and Modified Stampede winner Cole Traugott among the top five.

Gunning for a fourth consecutive track title, Jeff Kaup has an early 14-point edge over Brian May after a convincing win last time out on April 9 with Kevin Tabor, Kyle Wiens and Adam Stenzel also among the top five.

After sitting out the last event, the IMCA Stock Cars return to action with opening night winner Tyler Tipton atop the point charts with reigning champion Michael Pepper third after an opening night podium finish.

Duplicating Links Modified finishes, Matt OHair holds the early IMCA Hobby Stock points lead after a pair of runner-up finishes in the initial pair of events of the year. OHair is 14 points ahead of reigning champ Cody Davis, who won on April 9, with Tobby Schield, David Berger and Bryan Habiger among the early top five.

Tickets to Saturdays championship chase action at Dodge City Raceway Park are just $15 for adults with children eleven and under admitted free when accompanied by an adult.
