World of Outlaws Craftsman® Late Model Series Adopts Unified Late Model Suspension Rules - Rules to take effect on Monday, April 11

CONCORD, N.C. - March 31, 2016 - The World of Outlaws Craftsman® Late Model Series and DIRTcar have announced they will adopt the newly created Unified Late Model Suspension Rules following a months-long process that included manufacturers, constructors and dirt late model sanctioning bodies from across the country.

The collective effort of industry leaders began earlier this year and was led by motorsports authority John Darby and chaired by Eldora Speedway General Manager Roger Slack. Darby, working with the coalition, developed rules that have been agreed upon and identify a uniform rear suspension and shock package.

"When the group convened and there was overwhelming, collective support for finding common ground, we were thrilled," said World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series Director Tim Christman. "The unified suspension rule is a demonstration that when people work together, great things can be accomplished. This collective effort and the end result is good for late model racing. We look forward to more good things coming out of the coalition in pursuit of the betterment of the sport."

The newly formulated rules bring certainty and uniformity to late model racing across the country and promotes ease of participation for competitors. All late model series and sanctioning bodies are being urged to adopt the rules.

"With a unified rules package, every late model driver now knows what to expect and that it will be the same for every competitor," said DIRTcar Director Series and Sanctioning Sam Driggers. "When you look at the broader landscape of dirt racing across the country, the number of tracks and sanctioning bodies is expansive. These common rules bring all of those entities together and benefit everyone as it creates broad accessibility."

The rules take effect for the World of Outlaws and DIRTcar on Monday, April 11. The full rules bulletin with specifications is available at WoOLMS.com/Members.

This sounds like a good idea and if the rules package is descent and fair, it should be adopted for the sake of all.

Anytime you standardize rules, there will be some who will end up on the short end of the stick financially if they have to trash existing expensive systems. But in the end, it's usually good for the sport for competitors to be able to run their car just about anywhere.
