rebelracewriter Posted June 28, 2015 Report Share Posted June 28, 2015 For Immediate Release Mopar Nationals Qualifying Results at Grand Bend Motorplex GRAND BEND, Ontario (June 26, 2015) - The IHRA Mopar Nitro Jam Nationals kicked off today at Grand Bend Motorplex for the first Canada race of the 2015 season. Mike McIntire Jr. continued his streak as he posted the fastest time in the first round of AMSOIL Nitro Funny Car presented by Aeromotive qualifying. McAttack Racing made a 5.727 second pass at 242.26 mph followed by Jason Rupert with a 5.851 second at 251.95 mph. John DeFlorian Jr. remained consistent as the Arnold, Mo native was the number one qualifier in the U.S. Bounty Hunters Pro Stock class. DeFlorian Jr. had a 6.302 second pass at 221.18 mph. Cary Goforth posted the second quickest time with a 6.313 second, 221.56 mph pass at Grand Bend Motorplex. John Montecalvo had a down track incident and went off the track on the top end after qualifying third. The team is hopeful that repairs can be made to make the second round of qualifying tomorrow afternoon. The Crower Pro Mod class saw Bill Lutz top the board in his 1969 Camaro. The IHRA Nitro Jam regular had a 6.076 second pass at 230.06 mph. Canadian Pro Mod regulars rounded out the remaining six-car qualifying field for the Mopar Nationals. Local Nitro Harley favorite, Mike Pelrine took the top spot in the first round of qualifying tonight. The Fort Saskatchewan native had a 6.616 second pass at 208.96 mph. Second-place qualifier and IHRA regular, Jay Turner was second with a 6.636 second, 204 mph pass. Kat Moller was the fastest out of the four in the Jet Dragsters. Moller had a 5.853 second pass at 274.97 mph on the quarter-mile drag strip. Marisha Falk was second quick with a 5.878 second, 272.47 mph pass. 2014 Jet Dragster Champion, Elaine Larsen was third and Shea Holbrook fourth. The IHRA Mopar Nitro Jam Nationals will continue on Saturday with a full day of sportsman racing with the Summit Racing Equipment Pro-Am Tour presented by AMSOIL capped off with final qualifying for all professional classes and first round eliminations with the IHRA Nitro Jam Drag Racing Series.
