Tim Burkett Goes To Victory Lane At Toledo Speedway In Rain Shortened Feature
ICAR Top Speed Modified Tour Southern Division kicks off two races in two days weekend

Toledo, Ohio (Friday, June 26, 2015): After taking a three-week vacation, the Broaster Chicken ICAR Top Speed Modified Tour Southern Division's turn to get back into action after taking some time off. The Hemelgarn Racing/Super Fitness 50 Presented by Lakeshore Utility Trailer was at the famed 1/2 (0.500) mile high-banked paved oval of Toledo Speedway in Toledo, Ohio on Friday, June 26th. This event was in support of the King of the Wings Sprint Car Series for Winged Sprint Cars. It was a beautiful Friday night for racing at the famed track located just west of the Michigan / Ohio state line.

After the King of the Wings Sprint Car Series concluded their main event, it was time for the ICAR Top Speed Modified Tour to roll out for their 50-lap main. At the conclusion of the very exciting race, under threatening skies, 2013 ICAR Top Speed Modified Tour Champion, Tim Burkett withstood a hard-charging rookie, Trei Deubel and Mother Nature, who would cut the race short by five laps. The 56-year-old Burkett's brand new #14 Burkett-Nester Racecars machine would be the one in victory lane amidst the rain drops after taking home the win.

"We've been building this car off and on for the past several weeks while we've been busy at the shop. We finally got it out on the track and man I tell you what, this car is something else," The elated Fort Wayne, Indiana veteran stated after the race. "I would've liked to battle with Brian (Nester) and see how the two Burkett-Nester Racecars house cars stacked up against one another over the last five laps. I knew he was coming and man was that fun battling with Trei (Deubel). He wasn't giving up that's for sure. But we got the win and that's what we came here to do." He added.

After Economy Auto Parts Fast Qualifier, Brian Nester pulled an eight for an inversion/redraw; he placed his teammate and business partner, Burkett as well as 2014 ARCA Truck Series Champion, Danny Jackson on the front row of the scheduled 50-lap main under a slight sprinkle. The rain drops stopped long enough for the race to start and it would be Burkett who would rocket out to the early lead. Deubel, the Rookie of the Year point's leader, quickly worked his way up to the second spot from his fourth starting spot and began stalking Burkett from his second position.

For the vast majority of the race, Deubel tried every trick he could think of at getting passed Burkett. At one point, with 10 laps to go, Deubel briefly pulled up along-side of Burkett only to have to check up due to a lapped car being in his path. Soon Brian Nester made it a three-car battle and the trip would slice and dice their way all around the 1/2 mile in an attempt to get around each other. With five laps to go, the caution waved and soon the rain began to fall once again forcing ICAR Officials to deem the race complete and Burkett the victor. His fourth career triumph and first since July 5, 2014 which came at Winchester Speedway (IN). With the win, Burkett moves from 10th to fifth in the points standings.

Deubel would finish second and benefitted from the race ending five laps early. The DeWitt, Michigan drivers' #331 J.R. Neely Home Improvements ride would suffer a broken transmission earlier in the day in practice. Then when what would be the final caution flew with five laps to go, another transmission went away on the 30-year-olds' machine. Reverting back to the last completed lap before the race was cut short, Deubel comes away with a second place showing, wins his second straight M.P.H. Promotions Rookie of the Race award and moves up to second overall in the points standings while also building up a big lead in the freshman title chase.

as the sole point's leader after a third place finish in his #11 Burkett-Nester Racecars ride. The 40-year-old from Hamilton, Indiana, who earlier in the day won his second Economy Auto Parts Fast Qualifier award of the season, came away with his third straight finish within the top five to start the 2015 racing season in the ICAR Top Speed Modified Tour Southern Division. It was also Nester's 90th career top 10 finish in 108 career starts on the Tour.

ICAR Top Speed Modified Tour Northern Division regular, Joe Morisette Jr., mad e a rare start in the Southern Division and came away with a fourth place showing in his #4 Don's Towing entry. The 28-year-old competitor from Port Huron, Michigan withstood a late race battle with Bob Sibila Jr., to match his car number with his finish. Sibila Jr.'s debut in the ICAR Top Speed Modified Tour resulted in a fifth place finish for the Massillon, Ohio veteran, a longtime Late Model competitor in the Midwest. The 38-year-old scored the win at near-by Spitzer Motor Speedway (Formerly Mansfield Motorsports Park) in that tracks first race since the 2008 racing season after being closed for nearly seven years.

Jackson, who started second, hung on for a sixth place finish ahead of Bud Adams, who came into the night tied for the points lead, but would slip to third in the standings after coming home in seventh. Eldon Zacek broke through with an eighth place effort in his first appearance of the season while Greg Fullarton finished in ninth to advance three spots in the points to sixth as Brent Martin, who was making his first start of the 2015 racing season anywhere, completed the top 10.

Ryan Radziejewski picked up the Allstar Performance Hard-Charger award after advancing five positions in the race while defending race winner, Travis Eddy collected the Genuine Broaster Chicken Hard-Luck award after running in the top five for the first half of the race despite a broken sway bar mount. He later was involved in an accident on lap 27 that ended his night. In the early mid-evening hours in Economy Auto Parts Qualifying, Nester out-timed the 24-car field in the Buckeye State with a lap measured at a 16.560 which equals out to 108.696mph. The ICAR Track Record remains a 16.380 set by Derrick Griffin back on July 2nd, 2014.
