Jones Endures Adversity in TexasEvent: WinStar World Casino 400

Date: June 5, 2015
Venue: Texas Motor Speedway
Start 14th
Finish 22nd
Laps Led - 0
Owner's Points Position - 12th

Brandon Jones patience was put to the test in Friday nights WinStar World Casino 400 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) race at Texas Motor Speedway. In his debut at the mile-and-a-half speedway, Jones was relegated to a 22nd-place finish after an on-track event left him several laps down to the leaders early in the race.

Jones qualified in the 14th position and remained in the top 15 until the first caution of the race on lap 21. Crew chief Shane Huffman elected to change only right side tires to gain track position and remove Jones from potential incidents toward the back of the field. Jones restarted sixth, but just 12 laps later, made contact with the No. 15 truck, resulting in a flat left front tire and hard impact into the outside wall. The No. 33 crew worked diligently to repair heavy damage to truck before sending Jones back on track 38 laps down.

Huffman and the No. 33 Century A/C Supply team continued to make adjustments to Jones truck, which was handling extremely tight due to damage sustained in the earlier incident. Jones continued to fight an ill-handling condition and was able to bring his Chevrolet home in the 22nd position.

Coming out of the seventh race of the season, the No. 33 Chevrolet is 12th in NCWTS Owner Standings.

BRANDON JONES QUOTE:
Its unfortunate that we werent able to get our Century A/C Supply Chevrolet to a point where could be competitive with the frontrunners. We werent far off from where we needed to be with the setup, but once we got into the wall early in the race, we lost our chance of really seeing what we were capable of accomplishing. The No. 33 GMS Racing team did a great job repairing the truck and getting me back out on track, and Im glad we were able to finish the race. Overall, we learned a lot and well be ready to come back to Texas and run up front in November.
