South Texas Speedway
I found this today: Per Linn Benton College: Compression TestingHere are the steps to performing a safe and reliable Compression Test on a gasoline engine.Step #1 - Warm the engine to normal operating temperature.Step #2 - Disable the Fuel and Ignition SystemStep #3 - Remove ALL spark PlugsStep #4 - Hold the throttle plate wide openStep #5 - Install compression tester and crank engine through five compression cyclesStep #6 - Record the "first puff" and final compression pressure reading for each cylinderStep #7 - Analyze your test results
South Texas Speedway
The above is not my decision by any means just a observation. Ken Hobbs
og39ss
If all cars were done this way and yours didn't pass.. .can't really complain much. ..just saying...as for the future the track will get back with us..
cctxracer
LOOKED IT UP IN SHOPKEYPRO.COM AND ALLDATA.COM FOR DIFFERENT VEHICLE MAKES. ALL COMPRESSION CHECK PROCEDURES ARE STATED THE SAME AS THE FORD PROCEDURE. DAVID MCGUIRE
BAB75
Directly from IMCA's rule book. Maximum 175 lbs. per cylinder compression, no tolerance. Compression checked with one spark plug removed, turned five engine compression revolutions.

Josh38racer
It should of been better explained in rules if this was going to be done this way.. How's a person that wants to make sure he's legal before the season starts supposed to check his or her car.. I did what rules state car checks out perfect.. With this reinvented way I'm 5 over actually 15 pounds more than common way.. I'm legal for sos but the same car / motor is illegal a sts.. Isn't this what all those rule changes were about? WaerRacing00
SOS compression is max 160 for pure stock....
Josh38racer
Mines right on that with standard common track compression test..
top_shelf_12
160 at STS as well, top part of page 3. http://stxspeedwayracing.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/STS-2015-Pure-Stock-Rules-Final.pdf
Josh38racer
I'm pretty sure sts changed to 170 after pure stock meeting at beginning of year.. They never updated the rules I guess..
top_shelf_12
Who knows, didn't even know they had a Pure Stock meeting. Either way, I agree with the methods being listed but if it's illegal, it's illegal. Would be a little odd to have a different rule between the two tracks since some of the drivers are running both. Guess we could be glad they're even teching at all. Hopefully this hasn't cost the track any drivers.

ks2290
We are not mad at the DQ just annoyed that the procedure was changed with no warning.
top_shelf_12
TJ read the update on the other post. Congrats 54 on a good win and an extremely close and clean race between the 15D and 54.
arob
Is more fun to watch clean racing like the 15D and 54 plus the 9M and 41.
