North Carolina Education Lottery 200 Event Preview

Queen City Rookie... The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) and Spencer Gallagher, driver of the No. 23 Allegiant Travel Chevrolet, kick off Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedways (CMS) 10 Days of Thunder on Friday evening with the North Carolina Education Lottery 200. This weekends 134 lap affair marks the Las Vegas natives first career start at CMS. Gallagher recently took advantage of a NCWTS rookie test at CMS last month, and intends to parlay additional track time and experience at the famed quad-oval into his first top-10 finish of the 2015 season.

Ready for Take-Off CMS is the second race in a stretch of six races in seven weeks, following an extended period of off-time for NCWTS teams. Sitting 10th in points, Gallagher anticipates using the upcoming stretch of five races in six weeks to take-off in the NCWTS standings and improve on his season-best 13th-place result at Atlanta (Ga.) Motor Speedway (AMS). As the bulk of the NCWTS comes into focus, Gallagher sees this stretch of racing as an opportune time for his season to take flight and rebound after a 17th-place result one week ago at Kansas Speedway.

Dirty Double Duty For the second weekend in a row, Gallagher is pulling double-duty, but not in traditional fashion. After Friday nights North Carolina Education Lottery 200, Gallagher will compete in his No. 23 dirt crate late model at Friendship Speedway in Elkin, N.C. on Saturday night. To date, Gallagher has made three dirt late model starts, as the efforts are all aimed at accelerating his learning curve in the NCWTS with additional seat time.

Points Report... After four of 23 races in the 2015 NCWTS campaign, Gallagher holds the 10th position in driver point standings in his first full-time season. Leading into his track-debut at CMS, Gallagher is currently fourth in Sunoco Rookie of the Year standings, just three markers out of second.

Chasing a Milestone Chevrolet has 199 race wins through the 21 year history of the NCWTS. The manufacturer is seeking the milestone, 200th NCWTS win, and the first since September of 2014. GMS Racing offers Chevrolet two prime opportunities to reach the 200 win plateau, with Gallagher, and GMS Racing teammate Brandon Jones in the No. 33 PROSTOCK Silverado.

Charlotte Chassis Choice... For his first start at CMS, Gallagher will climb back behind the wheel of chassis No. 028. This Allegiant Travel Chevrolet was recently in action at AMS earlier this season when Gallagher started ninth, finished 13th, and ran lap times similar to the leaders in the closing stages.

Tune-In Alert GMS Racing hosts a weekly webcast series as a behind-the-scenes experience for fans. "Before the Green Flag" features race previews and storylines leading up to race weekends with interviews from drivers and all of the personalities that make up GMS Racing. Before the Green Flag can be found on the GMSracing.net Multimedia page, GMS Racings Youtube Channel, and at GMSRacingLLC on Facebook and Twitter.

Meet Spencer... Just two race weekends remain to collect the first of four collectable Gallagher hero cards, which is available through the Dover International Speedway race weekend in May. Gallagher will be at the Concord Mills mall in Concord, N.C. near CMS on Friday afternoon from 1-1:45 p.m. ET, and Saturday afternoon from 2-3:15 p.m. ET outside at the Allegiant Travel display. The CMS first-timer is also scheduled to participate in a Q&A session at the Team Chevy display in the midway area at 4:15 p.m. ET.

SPENCER GALLAGHER QUOTE:

On what to expect in his first start at Charlotte Motor Speedway:

"We took advantage of the rookie test that NASCAR allows us to test at Charlotte last month, and that was very beneficial for everyone at GMS Racing. Charlotte is unique to itself, especially with the transitions in and off the corners. Its a little rougher than some of the repaves, and that presents a different challenge to us. Going to a racetrack for the first time always adds an extra element, but Im excited to get on track and am up for the challenge. We have the same Allegiant Travel Chevrolet that we ran well with in Atlanta, so hopefully we can continue to improve and get out first top-10 of the season.
