Motor City Racing Promotions, the new entity that owns & operates MIRS, has been working diligently since taking over operations of the series in the Spring of 2014. With a restructured business model and new procedures being implemented to improve the overall quality of the event, the fast approaching 2014/2015 winter racing season is one of the most highly anticipated in series history. It all starts at the spacious Kellogg Arena, located in Battle Creek, Michigan serving as hosts of the 2014/2015 MIRS season opener; the 2nd Annual Thanksgiving Classic Weekend on Friday-Saturday, November 28-29th. The weekend will feature two nights of racing starting on Friday, November 28th with three classes as well as a full practice for all divisions. Then the weekend will shift into high gear on Saturday, November 29th with a full show for all divisions. "Everything is starting to come together nicely for this event. Our team is very excited about the positive vibes from all over regarding the new season." stated Motor City Racing Promotions Founder/President, Scott Menlen. "Now that the outdoor season is coming to a close, we can focus all of our attention on everything involved with MIRS and make the third season the most successful to date." he added. The 2nd Annual Thanksgiving Classic Weekend kicks off on Friday, November 28th as the Non-Winged Mini Sprints will highlight the night with the special 30-Lap Thanksgiving Classic Friday Night Shootout. In addition, the Great Lakes Tire Go-Karts divisions of Opens, 360s, Heavy Clones, Senior Caged, Junior Caged, Gold Plate & Purple Plate will all be in action. All feature races on Friday night will be 80% payback with all race teams receiving their payouts at the conclusion of the event on each night. Finally, the Quarter Midgets divisions of Junior Honda, Senior Honda, Light 160, Heavy 160, Senior Animal, Junior Animal and Heavy Honda will all be competing. Then on Saturday, November 29th, the Non-Winged Mini Sprints return and will headline the entire weekend with the 2nd Annual Thanksgiving Classic 50 which pays $500 to the winner. MIRS veteran, Tim Neal scored an improbable win one season ago that saw the Ypsilanti, Michigan driver break a steering box in one incident and then rolling over on his side with just seven laps to go. Despite the obstacles, Neal emerged victorious in one of the most exciting and talked about events in MIRS history. In addition, all of the Great Lakes Tire Go-Karts classes return for a second full night of racing highlighted by the 360s who will race for $500 to win. In action with the 360s on Saturday will be the Opens, Heavy Clones, Senior Caged, Junior Caged, Gold Plate & Purple Plate. In addition, all of the Quarter Midget classes of Junior Honda, Senior Honda, Light 160, Heavy 160, Senior Animal, Junior Animal and Heavy Honda return for a second full night of racing as well. They will be joined by the remaining divisions who kick off their indoor season as the Arena/Mini Cup Cars and Lawn Mowers make their first appearance of the season while the Midwest Classic Racer (MCR)-Type Dwarf Cars have been added to the show as well. A brand new division will be introduced to the indoor circuit as the Bandoleros who have become very successful in just a short amount of time during the outdoors season at Spartan Speedway (MI), have officially been added to the MIRS program for the upcoming indoor season. As for the rest of the 2014/2015 Winter Racing Season and in addition to the season opener in Battle Creek, Michigan, a minimum of two more race weekends are in the works for the third season of indoor racing.
