Reutzel set for Devil’s Bowl Winter Nationals

Lonnie Wheatley, CLUTE, Texas (October 15, 2014) – Aaron Reutzel set the bar pretty high for the Devil’s Bowl Winter Nationals with a third-place finish last October. It’s a finish he’ll try to improve upon at this weekend’s 41st Annual Devil’s Bowl Winter Nationals in Mesquite, TX, on Friday and Saturday.

This weekend’s double dip atop the storied half-mile near Dallas is the first competition for the BC Fundz/Wren Motorsports No. 87 Triple-X Chassis team since the Hockett/McMillin Memorial at Lucas Oil Speedway on September 26.

Coming off a pair of idle weekends, Reutzel and the Momentum Racing Suspensions/Danny Sander Construction/ButlerBuilt team are refreshed and ready for action.

“It was some much needed time off, so maybe it’ll be worth it,” the Clute, TX, driver commented.

Devil’s Bowl in 2014 has been feast or famine for Reutzel with an 18th to ninth charge in the opening night of the Spring Nationals in March and a strong fourth-place run in June’s Speedweek action sandwiching a pair of DNF’s.

“The draw is so important there, it can make or break your whole night,” Reutzel says.

Reutzel will be hoping for something similar to the Winter Nationals of 2013 where he posted a career-best Devil’s Bowl finish of third in ASCS National Tour action.

Following this weekend’s double, Reutzel and the Basic One Services/Lone Star Hydro Maintenance/Wright Way Logistics team travel up Interstate 30 to Little Rock’s I-30 Speedway for the Short Track Nationals.

“I can’t wait to get to Short Track, we’re really looking forward to that one,” Reutzel says of the prestigious event that is also the site of his first career ASCS National Tour win earlier this year.

Ranked tenth in ASCS National points entering the weekend, a second ASCS National win at Outlaw Motorsports Park near Muskogee, OK, in May is among his six features wins this year. He’ll look to add to the win column over the next several weekends.

2014 Quick Stats: 52 races, 6 “A” Main wins, 22 top-fives, 32 top-tens.

Up Next: Lucas Oil ASCS action at the Devil’s Bowl Speedway Winter Nationals in Mesquite, TX, this Friday and Saturday, October 17-18.
