Noll Nails Desert Classic Finale at CSP

PEORIA, Ariz. (September 20, 2014) – Jason Noll put a stop to the Ricky Thornton, Jr., run of domination by topping Saturday night’s 26th Annual IMCA Desert Classic Modified main event atop the 1/3-mile Canyon Speedway Park clay oval.

While Noll took Modified honors, it was a night of first-time winners for 2014 with Steve Bitting best in Pure Stocks, Mark Kilian ruling the Renegades, Josh Rivera mastering the Mod Lites and Pat Hennessey handling the Dwarf Cars.

In the $1,500-to-win IMCA Modified main event, Noll raced from the third position to snare his first CSP feature win since topping the Winter Classic opener on January 24.

Noll raced to the checkered flag ahead of Ryan Roath with Eric Center, James Webster and Cody Graham in the top five. After tangling with a lapped car while leading early, Thornton, Jr., raced back through the field before cutting a tire and settling for 15th.

Steve Bitting raced from seventh for his first Pure Stock win of the year in front of Zack Madrid with Chris McCurdy, Jr., Matt Martinez and Joe Vlasity in the top five.

Mark Kilian used his front row outside starting position to race to Renegade victory honors in front of Chris McCurdy, Jr., Matt Martinez, Jason Crowe and Tate Allen.

Josh Rivera beat 11th-starter Chaz Baca, Jr., and Adam Etcher to the line in the Mod Lite main event while Pat Hennessey raced from 11th for Dwarf Car honors ahead of David Brodeur and Keaton Swane.

Action continues at Canyon Speedway Park next Saturday night, September 27, with the Brawl for It All featuring the USAC Southwest vs. USAC West Coast Sprint Cars along with Micro Sprints, Dwarf Cars and AMA Mod Lites.
