Season Championships to Heat up Plymouth Speedway on Saturday

By: Anita Soltis

(Plymouth, IN) What do you get when you have side-by-side racing and one more night to claim a spot in the top ten in the points standings? You get a heart-pumping season championship night at the Playground of Power.

Drivers in the Dickies Restaurant 600 Sprints, Swan Lake Resorts UMP Modifieds, Super Streets, and Thunder Stocks will be working hard on Saturday to settle their spots in the standings. Three of the four divisions champions have been decided, but the Thunder Stock division will have drivers fighting for position to get the championship trophy.

Not only will the season championship have eyes on the track to see who claims the top spots, the Warsaw Hall of Fame presentations, sponsored by Sparkman Auto Sales of Warsaw, are planned during intermission on Saturday. Stock car drivers Jerry Baker, Tom Beezley, Jim Bucher, Bruce Hogue, Art Leiter, Alan Marsh, Ron McKenzie, Don Prater and John White will honored. Art Smith, Dick Leiter and Lore Lee Sherman will be posthumously honored.

The season championships will not halt action at Plymouth Speedway for the rest of the year. On Oct. 3 and Oct. 4, the World Series of Dirt will fire up excitement at the track with the Sprints on Dirt Series (SODS) season championships, plus the Swan Lake Resort UMP Modifieds, Super Streets, Thunder Stocks, and Dickies Restaurant 600 Sprints. Practice will be on Oct. 3 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and admission is free. Racing will be on Oct. 4 with hot laps at 2 p.m. and racing at 5 p.m. ET.
